Having been very cautious, following an injury to my soleus muscle 4 weeks ago, I managed a 10k yesterday and my calf feels fine today. I now have just over 3 weeks to train for my 1st half marathon! I did a couple of 10 mile runs a few weeks ago (last one was 5 weeks ago), so I'm fairly confident that I can get back to that distance over the next couple of weeks.
I'm told if you can do 10m you should be able to do the half. Is that right?!
All advice welcome!

That's really good news. Yes it's very true, if you can run 10 miles you can do a half! Many HM plans only take you to 16k in training. As it's your first half you should have no time pressure. You can always introduce some walking breaks if you feel you need them, or Jeff the whole thing. See how the training runs feel. Take it easy. You've got this!
If you do that half marathon, your first, I would advise you to take it slow and steady, do a bit of jeffing/walking as well, not sure about any runner running 10 miles can run a half marathon as well, maybe some can, I have run 5/10 mile runs but no half marathons although I did walk that distance with a little running, but it was mainly walking, good luck for that HM but take it slowly.
Sounds a very similar experience & query I had a few months ago but I had a rib injury after slipping in a wet room π bout 5 weeks before my 1st HM. Had also reached similar place in training & hoped for around 2.30 if possible! Thankfully I recovered enough to do the race & managed 2.33.55 which I was over the moon with. I didn't try to do the distance before the run in the end as too close & just what I felt I could manage.
As a 1st time doing that distance i found it was tough from mile 9-12 but the atmosphere & will to keep going & use all the training tips I'd picked up got me through. The last mile was fab and I just smiled all the way knowing I was gonna make itπ. Take on board your fuel & plenty of water, listen to your body & just believe you can do it.. π. You'll be fine!
You've been training and have already run 10 miles more than once, so yes, you'll be absolutely fine for a HM Lizcanrun . You can always walk parts if you need to. Better that than trying for a particular time, going out too fast and ending up struggling to complete. Have fun preparing!
Absolutely! If you've done 10 miles already, a Half Marathon is definitely possible.
I progressed: 10 miles, 18km, [disaster run], lots of running over summer, 13km, 10 miles, 5km, HM. Admittedly, by that point I was regularly doing two 10km runs per week on weekdays.
If you are able to do 10 miles in your next long run, I'd suggest doing 18km the next week, then go back to 10 miles for your third long run. There's not as much need to taper for a HM. Just keep the running load of the week leading up to it a little lighter than the previous weeks.
You don't need to bust a gut while doing it, though. Take it at your easy pace. It's going to be another half hour or more of running on top of the 10 miles. Walk if you need to. Take on fluids and some nibbles as necessary.
The first time I did that distance (September 2021) I was stiff legged and useless for hours afterwards, even after stretching.
Last Sunday morning after my ninth HM distance, I got home, soaked in a hot bath for about 10 minutes, washed the stink off myself, then had to be out again in my Sunday Best.
Iβd just echo what everyone else says Liz. Youβve already done the training so you can turn up at the start line feeling refreshed rather than knackered!
Iβll be watching out for those pom pom call outs beforehand π₯³
