Hi all...I'm on the C25K and Bridge to 10K forums but hadn't considered joining this one as it's scary coz it has the word Marathon in the title! 😳

After finishing Juju's Magic 10K plan just under a month ago I'd been toying with the idea of trying for 10 miles after consolidating...then saw a post where Dexi told a fellow runner she had to nip over to this forum if she wanted her 10 mile badge so I figured if I was serious I'd better join!

Last Sunday I detoured from my usual 10K route (usual lol, I'd only done it 3 times πŸ˜†) for a bit of a change, which also extended the run to 12K, it was a challenge, but I did it...now in my head, if I can do 12 then with training I should be able to do 16 right, so here I am! πŸ€”

Hi! It’s only us on here. The same guys who were on C25K and B210k. No need to be worried about the M word! It’s not compulsory, although without planning to, we may be working towards it!

10miles is doable. It’s an odd distance, I love it, but it’s easier to find organised half marathons than 10 milers. Just did the GSR but that’s not till October next year by which time you’ll be cruising 10 miles before breakfast! You seem to be doing great on your own though, so good luck with the training. Let us know how you’re doing!😊

Though as I've been told on here, once you get to 10 miles it's only another 5K to a HM...let's see how the run up to 16 goes 1st πŸ˜‰

The extra distance isn't an issue. Just build it up in stages like you did for 10k. I found that I needed strength exercises for ankles and calves as I progressed, but then I am 67 and spent most of my working life sitting down😊

I'm doing a bunch of stretching and strength exercises...must admit I don't often feel like doing them, especially after my long run! But I do them regardless coz I don't want any injuries 🀞

I also recently bought a foam roller as since running 10K or more I've found certain leg muscles tight for the next runs...only used it once properly so far and my legs did feel looser the next day.

We'll see on Sunday when I do my long run if it helps πŸ˜€
