Hi Linda, Katnap and I did a HM today. A very slow HM as my tummy wasn’t very good. According to Strava we got to 10 miles 2:01:48. No records were going to be broken today!

Note that is Strava best 10k time out of our run, we did 12.64km overall and were out for 1:50:50 (overall moving time 1:45:24.)

linda9389 profile image
linda9389AdministratorMarathon in reply to chrisl72

Excellent! Well done. I'll use the 1:26. We opted for elapse time to reflect what happens in a real race, but not elapse time over a much longer distance (although every now and again that happens in real races too and is never welcome!) 😊

Hi linda9389 instead of running 10 miles I was particularly mad and ran a HM and did that in 2:08:02 so please put that down as my time.

linda9389 profile image
linda9389AdministratorMarathon in reply to 00marks

Mad indeed in those temps 😎 Why not give us a time for the first 10 miles or the best 10 miles that strava calculates? I bet those last 5k added quite a bit - they'd be the hottest, tiredest 5k too!!!

00marks profile image

Finally got round to it this evening. It had to be today as the rest of the week has awful weather forecast.

I did 10 miles in 1:45:22 with lots of stops for sips of fluid (it was warm) and photos.

A road turns down a hill in countryside, with shining sea at horizon and sparse clouds.

Hi linda9389 , my Bristol 10k time was 1:25:40. The 1:25 pacer was quite a way behind me when I crossed the line too, so I think he misjudged it a bit! πŸ˜‚

linda9389 profile image
linda9389AdministratorMarathon in reply to cheekychipmunks

I'm always a bit suspicious of the pacers in a big event; unless they start at the exact same time as you, there time bears no relation to your own. Sometimes it's impossible to stick with your pacer through the approach to the line. Great time though Cheeky πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksHalf Marathon in reply to linda9389

I agree, it all seems very random I must admit. I was happy with my time, even though it was nowhere near a PB. The fact I got round in the very warm conditions was a win for me! πŸ˜€

Not a good run, too soon after lunch on Thursday, running with indigestion is not good, so the last 3 km I was mainly walking, I was going to try again this morning but my back is objecting to all the gardening it has done over the last few days. I am going to rest it. My time was 1:12:18.

linda9389 profile image
linda9389AdministratorMarathon in reply to lincolnoldie

You ran a tough but perfectly legitimate 10k so you need to make sure the next run is fun and enjoyable 😊. Resting until the gardening aches are gone sounds like the perfect decision!
