Today I went to my running group, did 2.4miles after a warm up including running drills. Not a word was said about Sunday's treadmill run and the Brighton Marathon. I am never going to mention it in the group as I value the friendships and don't want to risk that because of a difference of opinion.
I am now trying to decide whether to go outside and just run until I have done the distance or resort to the treadmill again. However what ever I do it is my choice. Have been researching the treadmill versus outside and there are benefits to doing long runs on the treadmill. Yes it is boring but that depends on your attitude. Yes the treadmill cushions you against the impact unlike outside. A lot of people train for a marathon on a treadmill some doing all the runs. Have yet to hear any negative feedback or news from people who have done a road marathon π
For my sanity and mental health I am happy to discuss or just post my thoughts but I am never going to ask for advice except regarding fueling. I feel safe doing that on this forum. I have bought myself a Btwin backpack with water bladder for Brighton but going to try it out on a shorter run first.
Regards fuel how do you eat Clif blocks? Someone is sending me some and want to try out before Brighton Marathon and preferably Weston Super Mare half.

Can't help you with Clif Bloks I'm afraid. Apparently there's High5 on the course, so I've been practising with those for fuelling, instead of my usual jelly babies. Easier to eat, and less messy, if considerably less tasty.
Thanks. I use High 5 or SIS either suit me with Jelly beans and for my long runs over 1/2 Marathon distance mini cheddars. Will be adding something else for this last run. Not sure what yet
I love Mini Chedders! Not my first thought for an ideal running fuel though. Too dry and, like jelly babies, require chewing. The nice thing about gels is the tear open - slurp - swallow ease of getting them eaten. Assuming you manage to avoid the tear open - hurl down front issues...
Well done for going and moving on. I jave used clif blocks recently. I just leave them in my mouth to dissolve for a while then maybe chew on them to get rid. I also make sure i drink water with them - tho I've no idea how much I should be drinking! I prefer them to gels for sure.
I vary my fuel, but if I have clif bloks I generally eat one per km, after I've run about 10k. It's important to drink a couple of gulps of water after you've had a blok too. The cherry ones are my favourites π
