I've mentioned this app before. It's great for plotting a new route, having step by step voice navigation - just ike a Satnav - which I haven't found anywhere else. It's great for new routes. I've had a few issues where I've run routes on criss crossing paths, especially where I go out and back part way along a route. Last night I added some prompts into the additional dialogue boxes for each step - things like 'leaving the lake behind you, or keeping to same path with canal on the right, or crossing over the bridge etc.
While I was asleep last night, someone kindly read and recorded all the things I'd typed ๐. So when I ran the route this morning, the lady in my phone announced all her right and left turns and seamlessly read out all my extra notes at the same time! It was magic! And made the whole thing much easier for me to follow too.
When technology works it's flippin amazing! Mapmyrun on the other hand - grrr. It just drew a straight line for my last 7km and recorded no data for that part of the run - zero distance, no pace details, just the end dot! Go figure!

It sounds like an amazing app. I still get lost at a fork in the road around the corner from home (forget which one goes where - and only lived here nearly 30 years ๐ฎ) so would be useful for me. Iโll have to have a look, although that would take some of the surprise out of my ramblings ๐
Sounds great, Linda! I could've done with this on my run today, I'd plotted a route but got lost and ended up doing even more blooming hills than planned!
I'm sure they were good for you though ๐ I hate ending up at the end of the run, still with a great long walk cos I kept getting lost on the way (and I seem to get lost very easily )
I looked at it but comments were that it was for well known city routes rather than off-road trails. I looked at it for an ultra but ruled it out cos of he comments. Iโve got another free app lined up but not tried it out yet
I will deffo give it a proper look cos if it's free Iโve nowt to lose Itโs preferable than reading a map in a gale or pouring rain
I think it was you that first suggested it, so really it's ta from me to you ๐.
You can create your own routes anywhere - I'm usually doing rural stuff. I find not all paths are shown but most of the ones I want are. If not shown, you can go into off-road mode. The other thing I've done is import routes I've set up elsewhere e.g. in strava, so I get the voice prompts. Rungo also shows you exactly where you are during a run, even in the free version which can be very helpful too. Definitely nowt to lose ๐
I gave up the Monsal Tunnel race so I'd have enough time for the ultra but my son has announced he's getting married. In the US! A scud has been dropped dead centre of my race timetable. Thoughtless nerk! LOL
