This is my first post on Fun Beyond... so hello to my new VRBs. It's been great reading all your run reports, I think I must be in one of the last groups to run. So this morning I drove the car to the garage, again! And planned a 10k route to run home. After 24 hours of non stop heavy rain I imagined flooded lanes to wade through but Mr Sax64 was out earlier with a favourable report about the conditions, so off I went repeating my run of 2 weeks ago. I'd only done around 5 minutes running when I spotted this post box. I had to take a pic, but unfortunately I also inadvertently saved my run!!! Ahh, do I start again or manually stitch 2 runs to find a time? Off I set again. After a while, I'm happy to leave the commuters behind and run on quieter roads which eventually lead out of the suburbs and into the peace and quiet of the lanes, even the sun pops out for a while. Half way in and now a hill climb, but it's ok. I'm amused by a squirrel ahead. It's also running up the hill, stopping now and then to spy me, I'm imagining it taunting me... you can't catch me grumble belly, you can't catch me rumble pump pump (apologies to Michael Rosen). Yes, it did beat me to the top. Turn right, 3k to go, oh no the lane is flooded, splishy, splashy sploshy...too big a diversion involved to avoid it. And so I continued, with an extra spur to get a continuous 10k recorded at 1 hour 16 mins and 23 seconds. Not a PB, but I'm very happy with the run considering all the waiting around to cross busy roads and the fact it felt comfortable. Right where's that medal, my very first one π . A huge thank you to everyone involved setting up this event, it's been great to be part of something bigger with my VRBs. π₯³π

My HU10k today
Hello and welcome! Itβs been fabulous to see so many reports and runners coming over to say hello here π₯° Please stay around π
Well done on your run, that sounds interesting and I love the squirrel story!
I haven't done my run yet and am planning to do it on Saturday so there are a few of us still to go. But you can now chill and order your new badge and wear it with pride π π
Well done Sax64; we donβt let weather get in the way do we ? (ok, apart from ice!). That is a really good 10k, and average heart rate under 140; excellent. This week has been special, running together virtually has brought together a team feel with people being really supportive of each other. Having a squirrel as a pacer is a new one on me; ambitious, but entertainingπΏοΈ! I see plenty up in the woods, but with dog walkers around they tend to stick to the trees; not daft! I hope you enjoy your medal, and please drop in here any time. Most of us post in more than one forum; there are no boundaries. π
Thanks for your support and kind words. I stopped chasing PBs and worked to feeling comfortable instead, hence the lower heartrate. It's pure luck if I get a PB now.
Yay π welcome and congratulations on your run
