I am in love with it for sure. I've managed to run over 100 miles every month since July and in October I've run 143. I just do the same route nearly all the time but I love it. Today I ran 16m in the pouring and very heavy rain π§ at a slow comfy pace and felt like I could go miles more. I've been able to do so many things with my running such as back to back long runs, two HM's in a week and lots of low heart rate runs where I'm so comfortable and happy. Gosh, running really is a part of my life.
Here are pics of where I almost always run. I go 3 to 4 times a week without fail because it's in me. I don't push for records or PB's but go because I need to and I want to and it's my space and time to be mindful. It's nothing special at all; just that I am consistent and positive. My running wish is to keep this enthusiasm so that I keep going until I'm no longer able to. My body is lean but feels strong, especially my legs and I just can't help being passionate about it!
Lovely photos you took GTFC on where you run, your enthusiasm for running will go on for a long time, it's amazing how many miles you run every month since you began with that 1 minute run of week 1 of C25K, excellent progress.
On another post I told everyone on this forum that I ran my 50th parkrun today, the 50 is of 17 official Parkruns and 33 virtual and (not) parkruns., overall I have only ran a fraction of the miles you have ran.
Thanks, GTFC, it's on Relive, not my usual place to run, it was ran at the same place that I officially became a runner which for everyone is run 3 of week 6 of C25K π ππΎ.
The river you see is the River Forth, the bridge is the Kincardine Bridge which then the Forth becomes a estuary, called 'firth' in Scotland, about 15 miles downstream are 3 bridges, including the famous Forth Rail bridge spanning the Forth from North Queens Ferry in Fife to South Queens Ferry near Edinburgh.
Oh wow. You really do love this don't you! Glad your mum is proud of you! Space and mindfulness is at least as important as the fitness aspect isn't it. So much more than exercise. π
Absolutely π― this. It centres me every time π
It sounds like the real thing GTFC, being in love with running that is π , and long may it last,.... somehow the way you write here about your love of running reminds me of a marriage or civil partnership ceremony, the joy, the commitment, the passion, loving it in all weathers, and then you say βitβs nothing special at allβ... well I hope you donβt mind but gently βI challenge youβ
Are you sure that what you have in running is not a very special thing indeed? π€π

Thank you! I dearly love it. It's become part of me and my week. I know the days I'm going and go. Easy as that π
Incredible GTFC, you are one awesome runner thatβs for sure. You have the exact same mindset as me - except you run miles and miles further than I do each week! Thank you for sharing your photos, itβs wonderful to see where you run. π
Itβs simply the best isnβt it? Coupled with these forums, I think weβre all so lucky. π₯°
Thank you so much. Absolutely agree about the forums. One of my happy moments in the day is when I check on here to see who has done what and where!! Love it π
Wow that's impressive! πͺπππ I'm not surprised you stick to that route, it has it all. I can imagine it's a very inspiring and peaceful route, just perfect to immerse yourself in your mindful running πβ Many more happy miles ππ₯
Thank you. It really is very quiet. The seawall alongside the Humber Estuary is ace. I can see the ferries in Hull and the ships on their way to Zeebrugge. All around is farming for miles and miles. There are loops of 6 miles and 4 miles too so I choose one or both each time I go out.
It's great that you are so passionate about your running. It doesn't matter where you run either as long as it keeps you happy and that's what running does isn't it? It keeps us happy!
Lovely post from you about your love of running. I get it! I donβt do it for exercise or to keep fit. I run because I love to run. I run because it helps me feel better about myself somehow. Itβs given me some confidence back. The health benefits are a bonus. The new muscles on my legs are interesting π Iβve had my hair cut even shorter because itβs easier to wash after running!
Long may we continue to enjoy it!
Great pictures taken on where you run! It looks pretty flat like where I live in the fens.
That's the best kind of running, running for balance, not speed or goals really, just for nature, and the rewards you get from nature and physical exercise ππ»π
Thatβs amazing GTFC what a wonderful mindset, so freeing too. What an incredible amount of running too I like the sound of low heart rate runs as well. Great photos along the way! You are definitely an awesome runner and a great encourager all round on the forums, many thanks for your support.
Honestly, today I was running over 3 hours and my average heart rate was 128. I felt so calm and at ease. I didn't worry about pace just that I could run as much as I wanted. As soon as I finish I feel like I've been walking. I feel great now, no aches or pains.
Lovely post GTFC, you are running like a VERY Good'unππββοΈ totally get what you are saying too. I'm excited for and anticipating my next run too!
Looking forward to that quick recovery, robot legs, and feeling like I'm walking I remember from last year.
The positive thing is that when you get back you can stay back and build up again. There's no rush or deadlines just you and the open road and I'll be right behind you π
I ran Wk 5 R2 this morning in the rain like a pro (runnerπ) Two lots of eight mins with a five minute walk in between. I loved it, didn't feel that I NEEDED to stop at any point, and completely recovered and started the second run with breathing fully relaxed. You were there right behind me with your encouraging words!
Thought you would like to know! I got runners high can you tell.ππ€
Brilliant effort GTFC, although these posts describe a lifestyle not just an event. Running, at its best, is transporting; the joy seeps in as you progress and the problems seep out. I am struggling to slow down at the moment; sounds ridiculous I know, but every run under 11 k seems to be around 6.15 time. Only one answer; longer runs!! Looking forward to building up to HM again..,,,slowly. You set a fine example!!πππππ
That's a really interesting point. Thank you! I agree. I do believe the run is a culmination of lots of things before. I try to always give myself the best chance of a pleasant run. I only work in miles π but you know that could just be the natural style and rhythm you have and so deliberately slowing may not always be right. As you go, you grow π those longer ones as you know are really satisfying. You'll get there again when you feel it, it'll come together.
I have the same problem, o run too fast. I force myself to gobslower but as soon as I zone back out, my legs just find their "happy pace" again. I even tried the longer run idea but it backfired spectacularly by knocking 7 minute off my HM previous PB, doing it in an average pace of 6:05 and doing the final 5k in under 30 mins. Sometimes those legs have minds of their own...
I was reading that it can be detrimental in some cases to slow if it's not too natural. Your body has developed this pattern which is natural for you after all your training and cardiovascular improvements! Keep doing what you're doing speedy!
No idea what that is but I'm ok thank you. I had this week off which was lovely as it'll be evening running after work except Sunday's when I go longer.
Well done on that. I regularly break the 100km (February was my last sub-100, largely due to being hit by a sciatica flare up) but last night I broke the 100 mile for the month mark for the first time. Not sure if I plan to do it on a regular basis, but at least I know I can.
Absolutely! You know it's there. Admittedly it went up as I was Marathon training. I don't expect it to be always this. I'm happy with 70 miles a month as a basis π
You've covered an impressive amount of miles and it's interesting to see how you've been mixing up the runs. Like you, I also find running to be a mindful experience and I always feel content after a run. Here's to enjoying many more fulfilling miles of running π₯
Great to see these photos of where you run Hidden - what an amazing mileage you have achieved too! Yes, running is special and clearly means so much to you!π We are lucky to have you sharing your enthusiasm and supporting others on these forums - keep on doing what you do!β¨ππ
βΊβΊβΊβΊ Thank you so much. Really appreciate it π
Splendiferous Young GTFC π and looking at those pics why wouldn't you want to repeat your route ! It's a cracker and that enthusiasm you emit it's infectious it positively oozes from you..... How could anyone possibly not want to run..... π

Thank you my man. I feel good for 47 and long may it continue. Appreciate this buddy π
Thank you for this calming post. You just run, low HR, keep it simple and enjoy it. So often with complicating things we forget the main goal, enjoyment. A nice reminder!
Great post, your inspirational GTFC ! you run amazing distances, it must feel amazing to be able to run for that distance and still feel you could run some more....you are definitely Running like a good un...and long may you do so ππββοΈ
That is some serious mileage you have ran and some great achievements. I love that you just run for the sake of running and find so much joy in it. That is what I'm striving for once again. Your passion is infectious!
Ah GTFC your posts make me smile in a good way as they are just so full of warmth and passion for running. ... I am sat here in my running clobber looking at the rain and trying to motivate myself to get out there....π
I got out eventually ( rain stopped) and you were with me in my head.... I reminded myself of how lovely it was to be running and just enjoyed ... didnβt go too just 8km and turned back when I saw rain clouds looming. Got a bit wet at the end but thank you GTFC for reminding me to just enjoy and run happy π
Hey...well done you!! 'Only 8km' that's brilliant. 5 miles done β I'm really pleased you went out and got it done! You feel good now eh? You are awesome! So many people would give so much to do what we do and each time I step out I do it for me with a big smile (bigger if it rains) and am mindful I'm doing what I love and what I've earned. You ARE awesome...don't forget π€
How lovely of you to share such enthusiasm and inspiration you are definitely a βgood βunβ Your love π of running is awesome and hopefully infectious to us all. Your mileage is truly amazing and your support on this forum is most definitely inspirational for all of us who struggle to get out and run. I am absolutely in awe of your love of running and hope that one day I might get to the point where I might enjoy a run in the same wayπ€π€well done πππππand thank you for all the support.
Thatβs a very calming and inspiring post GTFC π and it has got me reflecting on the reasons why I run.
I find Iβm at my happiest when Iβve broken a PB. I like running fast and pushing myself and my training is centred on target times for 5 and 10k. Iβve tried slowing down and I even did MAF running for 6 months a while back but it was torture. Then I injured myself in January but it taught me a lesson and since then Iβve worked on my core and back strength and weight loss which seems to be doing the trick so far. I guess Iβm an odd one out here as I run for speed and pushing myself, but I totally understand the mindful aspects of a calm slow run. Itβs just that I donβt seem able to do them and when I do they just hurt for days afterwards.
Thank you. This is great to read too. I think it's ace to challenge yourself and 'go for it' because there are so many mental and physical benefits it gives you. You are fast and that is such an achievement in itself. There can't be too many as fast and strong as you at your age.
What it comes down to is what motivates us to keep going and our sights might be different but our goal is the same. To keep out there, keep healthy and continue our journey π keep doing what you're doing!
Just love your running posts. And great photos. It really is amazing what you have achieved with your running. Just fantastic. Before the running, did you exercise much or has this all been a total transformation for you?
I used to play football myself and then train my son's team so was football fit. Running has replaced this now and my fitness and leg/glute strength and overall fitness has improved so very much π
Just fantastic. Youβre enthusiasm is infectious. Your still my main motivator as some day, I am going to post βten miles really comfyβ. Hurting my knee has been a wee setback but working towards the longer runs. Long, slow runs my fav!
So pleased for you that you have been blessed with this gift.It and you are special alright.May your wish and you keep on keeping on.Great how you have found it so simple and so quickly also.πββοΈβοΈπͺππππ«β¨
