I am in love with it for sure. I've managed to run over 100 miles every month since July and in October I've run 143. I just do the same route nearly all the time but I love it. Today I ran 16m in the pouring and very heavy rain 🌧 at a slow comfy pace and felt like I could go miles more. I've been able to do so many things with my running such as back to back long runs, two HM's in a week and lots of low heart rate runs where I'm so comfortable and happy. Gosh, running really is a part of my life.

Here are pics of where I almost always run. I go 3 to 4 times a week without fail because it's in me. I don't push for records or PB's but go because I need to and I want to and it's my space and time to be mindful. It's nothing special at all; just that I am consistent and positive. My running wish is to keep this enthusiasm so that I keep going until I'm no longer able to. My body is lean but feels strong, especially my legs and I just can't help being passionate about it!

Lovely photos you took GTFC on where you run, your enthusiasm for running will go on for a long time, it's amazing how many miles you run every month since you began with that 1 minute run of week 1 of C25K, excellent progress.

On another post I told everyone on this forum that I ran my 50th parkrun today, the 50 is of 17 official Parkruns and 33 virtual and (not) parkruns., overall I have only ran a fraction of the miles you have ran.

The river you see is the River Forth, the bridge is the Kincardine Bridge which then the Forth becomes a estuary, called 'firth' in Scotland, about 15 miles downstream are 3 bridges, including the famous Forth Rail bridge spanning the Forth from North Queens Ferry in Fife to South Queens Ferry near Edinburgh.

Thank you. It really is very quiet. The seawall alongside the Humber Estuary is ace. I can see the ferries in Hull and the ships on their way to Zeebrugge. All around is farming for miles and miles. There are loops of 6 miles and 4 miles too so I choose one or both each time I go out.

Lovely post from you about your love of running. I get it! I don’t do it for exercise or to keep fit. I run because I love to run. I run because it helps me feel better about myself somehow. It’s given me some confidence back. The health benefits are a bonus. The new muscles on my legs are interesting πŸ˜€ I’ve had my hair cut even shorter because it’s easier to wash after running!

Long may we continue to enjoy it!

Honestly, today I was running over 3 hours and my average heart rate was 128. I felt so calm and at ease. I didn't worry about pace just that I could run as much as I wanted. As soon as I finish I feel like I've been walking. I feel great now, no aches or pains.

I ran Wk 5 R2 this morning in the rain like a pro (runner😊) Two lots of eight mins with a five minute walk in between. I loved it, didn't feel that I NEEDED to stop at any point, and completely recovered and started the second run with breathing fully relaxed. You were there right behind me with your encouraging words!

Brilliant effort GTFC, although these posts describe a lifestyle not just an event. Running, at its best, is transporting; the joy seeps in as you progress and the problems seep out. I am struggling to slow down at the moment; sounds ridiculous I know, but every run under 11 k seems to be around 6.15 time. Only one answer; longer runs!! Looking forward to building up to HM again..,,,slowly. You set a fine example!!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

That's a really interesting point. Thank you! I agree. I do believe the run is a culmination of lots of things before. I try to always give myself the best chance of a pleasant run. I only work in miles πŸ™ˆ but you know that could just be the natural style and rhythm you have and so deliberately slowing may not always be right. As you go, you grow πŸ™‚ those longer ones as you know are really satisfying. You'll get there again when you feel it, it'll come together.

I have the same problem, o run too fast. I force myself to gobslower but as soon as I zone back out, my legs just find their "happy pace" again. I even tried the longer run idea but it backfired spectacularly by knocking 7 minute off my HM previous PB, doing it in an average pace of 6:05 and doing the final 5k in under 30 mins. Sometimes those legs have minds of their own...

I was reading that it can be detrimental in some cases to slow if it's not too natural. Your body has developed this pattern which is natural for you after all your training and cardiovascular improvements! Keep doing what you're doing speedy!

No idea what that is πŸ™ˆ. My fastest 5k is 23.37 but I rarely run it. Slow is my preference πŸ˜ƒ

No idea what that is but I'm ok thank you. I had this week off which was lovely as it'll be evening running after work except Sunday's when I go longer.

Well done on that. I regularly break the 100km (February was my last sub-100, largely due to being hit by a sciatica flare up) but last night I broke the 100 mile for the month mark for the first time. Not sure if I plan to do it on a regular basis, but at least I know I can.

Absolutely! You know it's there. Admittedly it went up as I was Marathon training. I don't expect it to be always this. I'm happy with 70 miles a month as a basis πŸ™‚

I got out eventually ( rain stopped) and you were with me in my head.... I reminded myself of how lovely it was to be running and just enjoyed ... didn’t go too just 8km and turned back when I saw rain clouds looming. Got a bit wet at the end but thank you GTFC for reminding me to just enjoy and run happy 😊

That’s a very calming and inspiring post GTFC πŸ‘ and it has got me reflecting on the reasons why I run.

I find I’m at my happiest when I’ve broken a PB. I like running fast and pushing myself and my training is centred on target times for 5 and 10k. I’ve tried slowing down and I even did MAF running for 6 months a while back but it was torture. Then I injured myself in January but it taught me a lesson and since then I’ve worked on my core and back strength and weight loss which seems to be doing the trick so far. I guess I’m an odd one out here as I run for speed and pushing myself, but I totally understand the mindful aspects of a calm slow run. It’s just that I don’t seem able to do them and when I do they just hurt for days afterwards.

Thank you. This is great to read too. I think it's ace to challenge yourself and 'go for it' because there are so many mental and physical benefits it gives you. You are fast and that is such an achievement in itself. There can't be too many as fast and strong as you at your age.

What it comes down to is what motivates us to keep going and our sights might be different but our goal is the same. To keep out there, keep healthy and continue our journey πŸ™‚ keep doing what you're doing!

I used to play football myself and then train my son's team so was football fit. Running has replaced this now and my fitness and leg/glute strength and overall fitness has improved so very much πŸ™‚
