I have been to the practise nurse.What a star.🌟A runner herself.More Magic.🌟

It’s not planatar fasciitis, thank the running gods.

It’s not a sprain, it’s a slight strain.

She thanked me for giving her a clue.

Probably caused by changing to my stronger lead leg and plyometric jumps.

So give yourself some rest, hot and cold treatment of the ankle, refrain from naproxen if possible, use ibuprofen if needed.

So in practical terms for me, recommended instead of a bag of peas, tea towel rung out in water, put it in the freezer, it gives better and more penetrating cover.I guess like a wet T shirt.I have got a granules bagπŸ€”, pop that in the microwave for 2 mins max at 600.Sorted hot and cold.

Recommended to stay on the physio waiting list also.Makes sense, if sorted before getting called, great.πŸ‘

Must say it is a great comfort to be able to seek the help of this magic forum.

Great news! Out of interest did she explain why to avoid naproxen in favour of ibuprofen ? I only use naproxen out of laziness because it's just twice a day πŸ˜‚

No not in detail. It is a pain killer also as well as anti inflammatory. I said to her I very strictly minimise it because I find it does not completely work in harmony with my bodies natural repair mechanisms. She agreed without going into detail.I also told her that since I started trotting have never had a psuedo gout episode, where I had to take, 8 tramadol, 2 naproxen and 8 paracetamol daily.

She said great you do not take the tramadol anymore, we must keep you moving. πŸ‘ŠπŸ’₯πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’₯πŸ‘πŸ‘

It may have been because the heart and Blood Pressure risks (which both drugs have) are greater with Naproxen than with ibuprofen . I believe Naproxen interacts with more other drugs too..... so always check with your GP/ pharmacist if you are on other drugs.

Hope you are back to full fitness again soon Tbae.

Thanks for the info @millsie-j. I remember reading about the increased risks and wondering why anyone would take them! The only advantage I seenis the ease of administration when I want to take something for a few days, and there are times when that is really handy - recently beingmone of them. Otherwise I will stick with ibuprofen when required πŸ™‚

Thats good news Tbae. 😊Well done for seeing proper medical advice... and top tip to put a wet tea towel in the freezer to use to 'ice' an injury.

Hope your niggle clears up quickly. 😊xx

Yes Jan, it is a good tip. Tea towel in the freezer not for long and able to double it and fold it round the ankle like a plaster cast.Magic.
