Still trying to put things together where the main resource is HealthUnlocked magic forum.
I have been round the block a few times in 15-16 months.Still a novice but how would I have learned anything at all without the support of this magic forum.Lordi keeps encouraging me, with keep at it, and of course everyone else really on here.
I have put distance and daily running on the back burner again for nowπ€.Eagerly awaiting to see the progress of others on here, in particular Bazza.
I am getting back from the IC and seem to have fixed right side Achilles and seized hip. Just left knee fluid needs to be managed as I have no cartilage there for over 55 years.
Week 9 C25k repeat should be completed next week.Only option really was to repeat the programme and although I had a mixed experience outwith my control, re starting in a group and finishing solo, reoccurrence of injury niggles, joyous interruption with the birth of my fifth grandchild, I am on the home straight and taking part in Abiβs SSC.
I have to conclude and think that if you just kept repeating the C25k you would see a forever increase in your pace.Forget that daft comment, but C25k and appropriate bits of it is just a lifeline also when returning from the IC.
Going to use Pete Magill stuff, Fast 800 stuff, Mitochondria sprinting stuff, and slowly introduce the gym strength stuff.
Going to stick with the guide rules.Going to stick with short distances 100m -1000m.
Going to keep at it.Reward today with a PR for 1/2 mile, 1 km and 1mile.
Hey ho itβs slow, but it reinforces the belief.Hope springs eternal.
Cannot wait to get back out there and get these eyeballs back on stalks.π±π€£
Best wishes to all the magic forum with your plans.
Hi Tbae, Alan from Scotland here, good post from you again, glad that you enjoyed rerunning the whole of C25K the exact way you ran it the first time. I have also been rerunning the course but only on selected runs, I began around the time of exactly a year ago after I began C25K.
Started with run 1 of week 3, two days later week 4, then on a Wednesday and Saturday I ran 5.1, 5.2
6.1. 6.2 and went back to rerun that 20 minute run of week 5 run 3.
Remember when I ran my first 20 minutes of W5R3 last year it was around Linlithgow Loch at a pace of 08.40Km, last Saturday the 4th May I ran it locally at a pace of 07.09Km which is a little faster than 2018.
No more comparing time until I run a few times for 30 minutes, I now have a 64GB Smartphone which I did not have last year, the old one had only got 2GB but did record my pace, hence the comparison.
Thank you very much for that top regarding Abi's Spring Speed Challenge, I have installed on my phone Mapmyrunπ/walkπΆ/rideπ΄ for cycling so I will know all the times I do immediately. π ππ΄πΆ
Thanks, I am not sure what I will do when I go to Helensburgh this year for my summer visit, I intend to go there on the 8th June, last year on the 18th June I ran my graduation run along the promenade, by the 8th June this year I will have ran a few 30 minute runs, last year it was a Monday, this year its a Saturday, every time that I am in Helensburgh on a Saturday since I started to go there on that day I see dozens of runner's running along the prom which you don't see if you go on a Monday, I have even seen running groups when I am there on a Saturday morning a few times.
When I'm out walking I see many runners and I think, he/she is running around my pace or faster
(usually a man) or about my pace (usually a lady) or slower than I run, sometimes both a man or woman.
I will never forget that guy in campaign for nucular disarmament gear that shouted at me just after halfway "goan'yerself on my π graduation run last year. π
Just on the side, I am going to try and crank up my pace over very short distances only, and then see if I can maintain some of that pace incrementally over longer distances.
Too old to just put the foot down and leave it there.
Aw thanks Bob, but I'm still learning along the way too.
I backed off in Feb a bit after pushing to 90 miles in Jan but am back on it looking to extend distances to 20 milers by Sept. Trying for 100 miles a month but work is getting in the way, late finishes meaning I'm only fitting 2 runs in some weeks which is a bit frustrating. Up to 14 now though so on target, can't really complain (OK, shouldn't!) π€£π€£
The marathon distance every week and at your pace.π₯π
π
Best I did was 9k daily x 21days + 4th week reset of 20k, so the equivalent of five marathon distances in one month.
Only way for me,little and often, that was my theory, but no repair time, stupid Jo and not wise, but I enjoyed it , even though I injured myself eventually.
We were all born to run and find out what we enjoy Jo.
Well the price of pleasure is usually pain...just a question of when, and how much or little! π€£ keep the memories of the fun alive to drive you on and the memories of the discomfort to keep you in a gentle gear π
I've found I must balance the road runs with the right amount of trails to get the maximum mental benefits or it can just become an added stress... and no one needs that. π€£
Let's see what the coming months bring for both of us. ππ
I wish you every success in the world.π₯πββοΈπ
You see thatβs your wisdom coming through,I never ever thought about trail vs road in those terms, ππ€£
only and again something you said about pace difference between road vs trail.I simply initially kept off hard surfaces, this male whimp initially, now I am looking for hard surfaces to get the bounce and extra pace.ππ€£
I am as daft as a brush and as thick as two short planks.ππ€£
Congratualtions on the birth of your fifth Grandchild. Good to see the running is coming on well. I still use C25k for my interval running, just replace the wlaking in parts for slow got and the slow jog parts for tempo runs. Its great to show how far we have come since the early days. Keep on keeping on!
