This week Wednesday 14th April I ran/walked 32k, 20 miles in 4h 54min. I learnt a good lesson that it is better to walk up the hills and not to tire the legs out. I’m not trying to complete the London Marathon in a specified time, but just complete it.
A good lesson: This week Wednesday 14th... - Fun Beyond 10K & ...
A good lesson
That's a huge distance, John, well done!
Me too, I am going to admire the London landmarks and enjoy the atmosphere!
Very well done, you did a great job there!
Also, would you like me to add you to our Events calendar?
Respect. Very well done. I admire your discipline and motivation - I cannot envision any further than 21,1k without keeling over.
Well done, you are well on track! 😊
Well done! Hills are a challenge for sure 🙂 and if they are steep you don’t lose any time by walking them
Mfam you train yourself to go beyond 21k just like you did with couch to 5k. Just little incremental increases mount up. There’s no hurry, thank goodness 🙂
Even the elite pro ultra runners like Kilian Jornet and Scott Jurek walk the hills. It improves your overall time considerably.
Well done
This is a good thing to learn for the day. And I totally think aiming to finish is a good goal for your first?? Marathon. Good luck 😎
And that’s a fab time too.... good strategy
That is an incredible distance John. Massive respect and really well done.
I aimed to get round and I did because I ran walked it. Fortunately my marathon was flat. Next time I am going to be a bit more ambitious and have started working on it 💪😃
I do a really hilly 10k race where the first 5k is uphill with a really steep incline first up. Everyone walks that bit as it’s quicker
Practice makes perfect, and including hills in your training is a good idea. Shreds your middle too 💪😃👍
I'm glad it went so much better this time. I'm really impressed by your endurance.
