Just did today my first 5k run EVER. I walked a lot and run a little but I did not stop at all. Time? 43:47. Not great but who cares! Training for the BM10K started well!

First 5k run!
That's fantastic, well done. It's such a big milestone isn't it... Well done 😎
That's faster than my first 5K Ravenworld and two years later I'm running half marathons!
Just take it nice and steady and don't injure yourself by trying to progress too fast and you'll definitely end up running a 10K tobe proud of!
That is fantastic! I am taking it easy and I set a program of running every other day, slowly adding to each run a mile. I do not have much time until the 17th of April so I need to push myself a bit but I am not giving my 100% at each run, so that I avoid injuries. At least, if I will get any injuries let them be at the event so that I can rest afterwards.
Excellent! Great goal too. Looking forward to hearing about the race. Looks like a beautiful course. Keep on truckin'
Well done! Have you tried the Couch to 5k programme? It's a great way to start off! When is ur 10k??
I hope u r super fit because it took me around 20 weeks to get from 5k to 10k, I am worried you might get an injury! Hope adrenaline and enthusiasm fuels you and will be thinking of you, keep us updated on your progress. Julie
ah I will be OK hopefully. I used to do track and field for about 10 years and back then I used to get lots of injuries so I am prepared for aches all over in my legs and especially knees. I will not stress myself with time. My only goal will be to try and finish before the marathon guys start coming. I checked already the times of the people that finish last the previous years in the same event and if I manage 1 hour and 40 minutes or less I will be fine. I think I can do this without dying. Last week I walked with my 3 y.o. toddler and pushing a pram with my 8 months baby for 8km non stop and I got a bit tired towards the end but nothing serious. And I was wearing totally wrong shoes (some boots with flat sole). Of course that was only walking, no running at all but I am used to walking long distances so this might help.
Sounds as if you are pretty fit so I can stop worrying about you now, all the best with your plan and look forward to updates 😀
