hey, just had the first Lucentis injection in my “good eye”. I only had three injections before and I never experienced something like this - the white looks like jelly and is swollen. I called the clinic but they did not tell me to come for a check - I should sleep on it. Have any of you had something like this - could use word of comfort 😬

Hi KDCH. I don't have Lucentis injections so I don't know if the swelling is something that can happen with it or not, but because of the comments made to "sleep on it", maybe it is. If it's still like that this morning after "sleeping on it", I would ring the clinic again and tell them you're worried about it and you would like to have it checked. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Update (and thanks Springcross!):

I went to the eye emergency and got a thorough examination. The swelling is termed “chemosis” and is a normal side effect, but is not described in the papers I got. There were some cells in the forechamber which caused a bit concern, but this will be further checked on Friday. I am happy that I went caude I slept well after that 😅

Brilliant, I'm glad you've had it checked. Is it a normal side effect for the Lucentis or does it apply to the other anti-vegf injections do you know?

I went to the eye emergwncy an had it checkef - still swollen bit apparently this is a notmal reaction to the anaestaetic drops? Have not had this reaction previously, bit the personneæ were mentioning that they used a different type as the usual are out of stock. They also did not work that well, the injection was rather painful 😬

Strange I had different anaesthetising drops not long ago and I was told they were stronger. I think because they were stronger they didn’t give enough because like you, it hurt!

Trying an Ozurdex implant next and not sure how painful that will be as the needle is thicker!
