Eye injection after care and blurry vision

I had my first eye injection today and I was provided with no aftercare advise!

I've researched online abd gave found most kf my answers but I'm worried about sleeping. Is there anything I should do? An eye patch or just try to avoid sleeping on that side?

Also, I have some blurry vision. It's improved since the injection, but I wasn't told how long I should expect for this to last? It's been about 5.5 hours and it's still very blurry! Better with my glasses on but without not great! How long should this last for?

Thanks!

Hi Britgirl80. I've left a link below, have a read - it's not my Health Authority but it's pretty much everything I was told to do and not to do by my own HA.

uhs.nhs.uk/Media/UHS-websit...

Just noticed that I don't think it mentions the blurriness but I get it and it's usually OK by the next day.

Gosh I am so sorry you have been treated this way.Getting a needle injecting stuff into our eye is nothing to be scoffed at.

It's very scary.

I have had so many injections in my right eye that i lost count of Avastin within 3 years.

It is something hard to get used to if you need the injections . . . . . I still need a stress ball during the procedure.

Hugs.

Thank you, I've felt very let down by the process. After my injection I was told to watch out for certain things, when I asked how to contact them they had no literature and didn't seem to know what to do, so I was given a triage nurses number and left feeling very anxious.

Hello Britgirl80, i have been having eye injections for quite a few years now, i do not avoid sleeping on the injection site, it is perfectly ok for me, always careful not to get any water near the eyes for a few days, and just be gentle around that area. The blurriness is perfectly normal, mine usually disappears if not later the same day then certainly by the next morning. The first injection you have always concerning, but you will get used to them. Very best wishes.

Thank you so much, this is very reassuring. The blurriness has now lifted and I managed a few hours sleep.

I was given a booklet from the Macular Society at my first injection. So I follow their rules. No hair washing for 5 days no swimming or eye makeup for 7 days. I also wear safety glasses as I have a large hairy dog for a few days and I sleep with them on for the first two nights so that I don't touch my eye. Also a travel pillow is comfortable too. I use eye drops the following day as well.. I think the more you have the more you develop your own ways to be comfy with it all.
