I have injections in both eyes for wet macular degeneration. Left eye has scar tissue caused by retinal tear. Am having cataract surgery on 23rd October in right eye first. I am short sighted and have agreed to have sight corrected at same time. I am now worried about wisdom of this as think it will highlight distortion in vision and will have to have reading glasses for the first time in my life.

Cataract surgery with AMD
I think you need to speak to your optician to explain more. Mine was great,
I have just had mine done but I have always had glasses. I can’t really read very well at the moment. I have to go to my opticians in 6 weeks to have a new prescription.
There is a Multifocal lense but my optician didn’t recommend me having it.
I have wet AMD in one eye, and a bad cataract in the other. I had cataract surgery and it was wonderful. It improved my sight no end. I would always recommend it. xx
hi cockeyed. I also was very short sighted and never needed glasses to read or sew etc..also have wet and dry macular. It just means readjusting to looking for reading glasses instead of distance glasses. A bit back to front but I soon adjusted. Good luck with the ops. You’ll find a big difference.
