Nothing you describe is normal. You have to be proactive and have a pen & pad for asking questions and receiving answers. You don't say what they plan for your therapy. If you are dissatisfied with your care, try somewhere else. Read everything you can on this excellent site macularsociety.org

Hi Kevinaki, when you say "try somewhere else" do you mean PALS ?

I meant that if you are unhappy with the eye care you received or are receiving, you can try another clinic/hospital/ophthalmologist. I am not familiar with UK PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service).

Hi Hooley52hill,

Have the hospital told you what your eye condition is? Have they suggested any treatment?

If you would like to have a chat with our helpline, please call 0300 30 30 111 (9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday)

Best wishes

Hi hooley , you need to know which type of amd. Wet or dry? That will let you read up and see what your eye clinic should be doing for you. Basically, wet gets injections, dry doesn't.

There are dietary supplements / changes you can make to improve eye health regardless of which type you have.

Because dry can turn to wet & wet can deteriorate quickly you should be checking weekly using the amsler grid.

Your clinic should have given you one and also advice on when to call them (eg getting flashing lights ).

It seems we all have to push for info.

The grey patch may be permanent damage. If they didn't explain fully or you just forgot in the whirlwind, I suggest you write down your questions then ring and ask your clinic for answers.

Best of luck going forward.

I agree with kevinaki. You can contact your consultant's secretary and ask for details of your condition. Find out as much as you can and ask if treatment is forthcoming.

The wispy clouds you see may well be floaters, which I see most of the time and not only in bright light. They are not always just black dots but can be stringy or patchy like looking through a wet, dirty window.

Best wishes x
