I have been taking Avastin for 4 months with no improvement, my doctor is switching to Eylea. If you are taking Eylea, what has your experience been?

Good morning, my personal experience with Eyelea is good. I had Lucentis injections very frequently for a number of years but when I changed eye clinics I started Eyelea and it works far better for me. I have much longer periods between injections and this time have gone a whole year. Have an injection booked for next week. Hopefully it will work well for you as well. Best wishes.

i have had Avastin Lucentis and since 2016 every month I have had Eylea. Eylea is a great anti vegf and I would really recommend it.

My situation is different, I've been on Eylea for a few years now and might site has continued todecline. Started with one shot in right eye every 7-8 weeks, now shot in both eyes every 6-7 weeks.

Hi Slattery. I was having Eylea injections for 4½ years, it's really good if the frequency of your injections are managed well. Mine were initially managed very well which proved to be very good and dried up the fluid fairly quickly, but on several occasions after that, I was made to wait too long in between injections which caused problems and the fluid returned. Not the fault of Eylea but of the management of it. All the best with your injections, I hope it works really well for you.

Eyelea has worke,d well on my right eye. My next appointment is 23rd February, if no bleeding I will have done 12 moths no injection, but it has taken time.

Eylea costs more than Avastin and fortunately I was put on this treatment from the start from the hospital. It was obtaining privately a second opinion that I was informed I was on the best treatment.

yes Avastin had poor results for me (and my sister). wheras Eylea has been very successful.

Hello Slattery,

I had an issue with macular edema however I do not have Wet AMD. I had two different diagnosis. One doctor told me I had leaky vessels and on my second opinion I was told I had a stroke in my eye. I started off with Avastin, but after 3 or 4 injections , each 6 weeks apart, they switched me to Eylea. This was due to Covid and travel restrictions at the time. (I live on Kauai and we had strict travel rules. It wasn't possible to get Avastin injections on Kauai, and traveling to Honolulu was burdensome at the time, but Eylea I could get without having to travel. Otherwise would have likely stayed on Avastin) but I'm happy to report, my condition has greatly improved and my doctor doesn't need to see me for 6 months! I have received 14 Eylea injections over the past 2 years (at various intervals) and hopefully won't need another one at my 6 month checkup. It has worked for me. I did not have any side effects from it either. Best of luck to you going forward.

Regards,

Tedly
