I have had Eylea shots in one eye for a couple years now, during which time the cataract on that eye has gotten much worse. Recently a new Doctor has begun to give me Eylea shots in the other eye as well. I am concerned that there is a ironic relationship at work here. The Eylea helps prevent the wet AMD from worsening, but may be speeding up the cataract formation. I suspect this because "cataract" is listed as a side effect of Eylea. Does anyone have a thought about this? (And, by the way, what is the difference between a "post" and a "question"?)

Does Eylea worsen cataracts?
Hi Jim I too have been having Eyelea in one eye for last 2 yrs and developed a cataract in that eye which completely obscured my vision in that eye I had it removed last wk and my vision now great I too wondered if Eyelea was cause as it developed so rapidly My consultant says no but I find it interesting ! I wonder how many others ?
Yup cataracts are a common idea affect of Eylea. However cataracts can easily be sorted.
Hi Jihm. I agree with the other two replies, cataracts are (but not always) a side effect of Eylea but can be removed. Regarding a post and a question, what you have created is a post and a question but a post can just be someone giving info or an update on things relevant to the members of the forum (I assume!).
Yes it does speed up cataracts and make them worse my consultant told me that
Thanks, Pochy. The tech who prepped my eyes for the shots agrees. But, the current doc (ophthalmologist) who gives the shots prefers to live in a world of denial about anything that could even remotely leadanyone to blame him or the medical corporation he works for for anything.
Hello I had a cataract developing slowly about 15 yrs ago before I had any injections. I have had eyelea injections for nrly 4. Yrs, my eye is dry now. I had the cataract removed without complications, Feb 2nd and my vision has improved a lot. The consultant said it wasn’t the eyelea, and I did have it before. But it did make me wonder. The cataract op was brilliant, but I do have a bit of a watery eye after, just rang for advice and they said to use my lubricating drops more. Wonder if anyone else experienced this?
Yes, definitely ! ...see Eylea side effects...
