That depends on the damage it has already caused before the shots. It can clear up the cloudiness but the scar is permanent. I stopped getting the shots because I would get the shots and have pain days after with very little results after getting the shots once a month for almost a year. But I did see some improvement after about 3 months, but had alot of floaters.

Exactly right. It has never done me any good and bith eyes are affected. Just bad luck my optician didn't know the difference between cataract and AMD in the second eye.

For me it was after the 3rd (last) load injection. By load injection, I mean that an Eylea shot is given every 4 weeks for 3 shots as a load dose and then the shots can usually be spaced out more. So for me, about a week after my 3rd shot my vision started to improve. When I started, my vision in the eye with WMD was around 20/100. Besides noticing an improvement myself about a week after the 3rd shot, at my next shot, my vision tested at 20/70. Then for next shotappointment it was 20/50 and it has remained at 20/50 for about 2 years. I am getting a shot every 7 weeks, but I can stretch it to 8 weeks if necessary. The good thing is that the bleed has totally stopped & the pictures of the retina look good, but my distance vision does not seem like it will ever get any better than 20/50 and that 20/50 is the best I can get with glasses on. There is no lens power or choice that will give me anything better than 20/50.

The inj may give some improvement ( they did for me and many others who post here) but primarily they are to stabilise the condition and prevent further damage.

If you haven't already, download an Amsler grid and use weekly to check vision. I mark mine in pencil to make it easier to see any changes.

Best wishes going forwards.

Good Motning Kellbean,

The primary function of the injections is to maintain and prevent further sight loss caused by damage to the macula. However, sometimes individuals report a slight improvement within the first 2-3 injections, however, this is variable. As long as the injections are stabilising and holding the eye, then they are performing their function.

Best Wishes,

Becky

In my case it started improving within hours. In 2 days, I used to have 20/20. Now I have switched to Avastin as Eylea made some good progress and treated most of the Oedema.
