Eye drops after injections

Hi,

I was given some artificial gel tear drops to use after my eye injection yesterday and they are causing crusting of my lashes on my lower lid and some gloopiness that builds near the tear duct a few minutes after using the gel. Does anyone else experience this when using gel drops? Usually I don't use the gel and experience excessive watering with the regular drops.

Thanks!

yes I’ve previously had the tear gel. Found it very gloopy. The simple answer is don’t use it! It’s not medicinal such as anti biotic, simply something that may make the irritation a bit easier.

As the irritation soon ceases I now don’t bother at all with the gel and find it’s not necessary.

I stopped using it after I realised that it was just making my eyelashes and lids a mess! Now I'm left with matted stuck on residue and don't know how to get rid of it! I preferred the dry feeling to the gloopy excessive watering the gel caused. It's the first, and last, time of using those!

Just use a clean face cloth dampened with warm, not hot, water. Close your eye and gently clean it.

I use warm water and a soft washcloth to gently clean the dried gel. Next day - I take a shower and let warm water gently run over my eyes. Easily handled.

I've heard that before with those of you in the UK. I've had injections since 2018 here in US with a respected retinologist at a specialty clinic and never advised to not shower or wash hair afterwards. Sometimes I read that antibiotic drops or spray used there - never had here. Other subtle differences, too. So I think guidelines do vary according to location.

I love this web site, after 5 years with my wet eye I never heard of tear gel for eyes. Only thing my RS would have me use is Refresh Tears ( Lubricant eye drops ) use as needed. That gel has to bad to use can't imagine how that would feel. Different in doctors my guess.

I really didn't get on with it. It's delivered like a drop but then settles in your eye as a gel and that's where the goop and gunk mates the eyelash. From a soothing point of view it was brilliant, but the mess and cleaning up, not so much fun!

I use it once an hour for about 4 hours. Then switch to regular drops. It is very messy. I use a q-tip dipped in warm water to get the gop off.
