Eylea injections 3 weeks apart - Any experience?

Hello,

Has anybody ever received an Eylea injection 3 weeks following the previous one? Any experience with this reduced gap? I am not a doctor but the information I always received and found online indicate a suggested gap of 4 weeks, unsure what the side effects would be with a reduced gap. Any feedback is appreciated. Many thanks

Hi Miss_Luce. I've never heard of that before. You could ask Paul, the Administrator, he may be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck.

Have you been offered 3 weeks then? Do they know it’s only 3 weeks? Under NICE guidelines it should be 4 weeks give a day or 2 at the maximum.

Hello Tallyho, I will have an injection after 3 weeks from the previous one. I have been having injections for approx 4 years, this is the first time at such a short interval. Can you reference the NICE guidelines you refer to?

Have you informed them that your last one was 3 weeks ago? I will look for the NICE guidelines on this and post below

In all the NICE literature it mentions four weeks or longer in between all the research was specific loading doses and then a treat and extend regime. I have had Eye now for nine years and I agree three weeks is very unusual. It is definitely not mentioned in any of the guidance that came out. And the information from those that made Eylea also only mention 4 week intervals. .

I am aware, however these are specific guidelines to treat AMD within the public sector in the UK at a "cost-effective" regime. Every situation is different and it's up to each consultant to determine the right interval. I was curious to hear experiences at a shorter gap if anyone had injections at 3 week interval rather than 4 or longer. Thank you for your comment, appreciate it!

I have an injection today and will ask the ophthalmologist if they have ever done this. Yes guidance after a lot of research and also advice from those that made the drug in the first place
