Eylea Intraocular Pressure

Eylea prefilled syringe injection causes intense light flashing and temporary loss of vision due to excess intraocular pressure. Doctor claims poor stop markings on syringe body cause the over volume. Doctor is reluctant to return to former conventional syringe where I was problem free for five years. Should I insist the Doctor order the older syringe? With shots in both eyes, I now have to line up a driver for the visit since my vision is too bad to drive for at least eight hours.

Hi thereI have had Eylea monthly since 2016 and for 5 years before that avastin and lucentis. I agree iop can raise with injections but I think myself this happens regardless of how it is ministered. It’s such a worry with having injections at the least of times. I am surprised you drive with just one eye injected we are advised not to drive with one injection done let alone two.

Do you have a consultant you can contact that you are under can you contact them or their secretary? Hope this sorts out quickly for you. The other option is to ask to have your iop measured before and after and injection and see how much it is raised and if it’s a lot they can give you iopodine to lower it. Also if you have thin corneas your iop reading may be lower than it really is a thicker cornea would have the opposite affect.

I went blind in one eye after receiving an Eylea injection from a different Dr. I have Glaucoma also, and my pressure went way over 50. I discussed this with my new RS and she believes, as I do, that he game me too much. When she treats Macular Degeneration patients with Glaucoma, she gives a bit less that the recommended dose. I would mention this to your RS.

I have had both Lucentis and Eyelea injections and always have trouble with bright light and sunshine for a while afterwards. I would never drive after injections, we are told in no uncertain terms we are not to drive after injections and even check ups. Hope things improve for you.

My pressure goes up when I get an Eylea shot, so the doc who administers the shots had me see my local eye doc to get pressure reducing drops, such as Combigan, or the equivalent. I did so, and my pressure is under control.
