I'd be grateful for any info on intraocular pressure mine is 20 in both eyes. I am registered partially sighted due to chronic csr and wet amd. I've been suffering really bad headaches and wondered if it could be related to the eye pressure. Regards Mandy

As far as I am aware, 20 is not considered dangerously high. I have 19 in one eye and Moorfields was quite calm about it and indicated that it would have to be above 22 to be worrying. I'd be interested in what others had to say. Both my parents had glaucoma so I need to be on my guard. However, if you have high blood pressure (which isn't related to intraocular pressure) then that might cause headaches. Or is it that you strain to see or focus at all? That could cause headaches, as can stress generally. I would check your blood pressure first.

Thank you I have been under a lot of stress and do strain a lot to see

I agree with Elvira Kate. My doc said to expect headaches due to eyestrain as brain tries to sort out two very different inputs.

I get new specs regularly even when eye clinic say to wait ( I like to read so it's worth the cost to me).

Stress gives me headaches too.

My clinic said 23 was high iop and gave me Timolol drops which worked well.

Hi

I also have chronic CSR and, until recently, had high pressures too. Mine were usually in the high 20s and sometimes low 30s. I had SLT laser a few weeks ago and the pressures are more in the low 20s. I never experienced headaches.

Dear 180164,

It would be worth ringing your ophthalmologist via their secretary to highlight your concern. They will be able to inform you if there is likely to be a link between your headaches and eye pressure. It would also be worth seeing your GP in case there is another cause.

Please ring us if you would like to discuss this further.

Kind regards,
