Vomiting after Eylea injections

I recently had eylea injections in both eyes and now have been vomiting. Had to go to the hospital for 2 days for severe dehydration and I'm still throwing up. How long does the medication stay in your system? I seriously can't take this much longer. Throwing up for 8 days now. Help!

I am sorry about your vomiting. I have Eylea injections and have never suffered with that. Did you ask them in hospital about it?

Hope it stops soon.

Hi, I haven't been able to find vomiting as a specific side effect of eyelea.

Not to say it definitely isn't but it sounds more like something else. Didnt the hospital give you any test or information?

What has your eye clinic said?

To be vomiting for 8 days is not good, not only dehydration but also nutrition deficiency and physical strain.

If it's not eyelea it is possible to reinfect oneself so be scrupulous washing your hands etc. If the vomit looks bloody or like coffee grounds you may have a stomach ulcer and should see a doctor asap.

Suggest you contact your gp for advice .

Hope you feel better soon x

Hi Biggin. Have you contacted your GP about this. If not, I think it's about time you did as you need to find out what is going on - vomitting for eight days is not right. Are you taking medications of any kind and if so, could this be the cause? I have never had this reaction from Eylea. Please let us know how you get on. Hope you feel better very soon. xx

I have felt nauseous after Eyelea injections and I contacted Bayer requesting information about the systematic effect of the drug and the amount entering the system. I did not receive the detail.

I face cardiac surgery and my ophthalmologist told me that there is some restriction of the blood vessels after injections.

I suggest you have one injection at a time.

Have you completed a ‘yellow’ form reporting your reaction to the drug?

Hi Andrea, have you looked this up on WebMD? Or the NIH or Mayo Clinic? That is where I found information on it including what is termed the black box warnings which are listed in the information pages with the medication. Just do a search for Eylea side effects it takes some time reading but there is a lot of information available.

Thanks. I will try webMD and look for systemic effects.

Did they check your eye pressure? Vomiting can happen with high eye pressure. Not heard of any other reason for vomiting after an injection.

Did you have blurry vision too? High eye pressure often happens after injections but generally not for that long.

Honey, you should be IN the hospital. Eight days vomiting to me, a lay person, suggests poisoning. I had a systemic inflammatory reaction to this drug after only two injections. These reactions are not uncommon to this medication. There are many others to try out. You don't have to SUFFER to live with this dreaded condition.

Good Morning Biggin.

This really isn't something we'd expect as a reaction from an Eyelea injection (or Lucentis or Avastin). If you haven't already, you need to be contacting 111 or your GP, vomiting for this long shouldn't be ignored and you should seek medical advice.

Best Wishes

Becky

Good Afternoon thom3patty,

Have you informed your consultant of what you've been experiencing post injection? Although a lot of people experience pain or discomfort following an injection, this can be managed depending on what's causing the issue. However vomiting isn't a usual reaction to injections and needs to be discussed with your consultant.

All the best,

Becky

I have talked with them a lot about the pain and vomiting when I was getting other injections ( kenalog, avastin and iluvien) I never had pain like eyelea when my body has severe pain such as a kidney stone I vomit so I attributed it to pain but I am now seeing several people here also vomiting so I don’t know now I get a very heavy wash after because they thought maybe the beta done I get extra numbing but nothing really helps
