Eye make up

Hi again, my second post. I had both cataracts done end of last year and beginning of this year. I have dry macula in left eye and wet in right, I had my first injection last month ( and thank you all for putting my mind at rest, it was nowhere as bad as I thought it would be) my second injection is on 17 April, I go on holiday 23 April. Since my cataracts I’ve not worn eye makeup, or any make up come to that, now I’m wondering if I can wear eye makeup a few days after injections or should I give it a miss forever. Thanks for your help again.

hello marysuds, i have exactly the same as you, wet in the right eye and dry in the left, and have been having injections for a few years. The most important thing to guard against after injections is an infection in the eye. I therefore do not use eye make up until a week after the injection, and best to replace your eye make up as well so it is absolutely clean before you apply it. Also make sure you are very caeful when shampooing, leave that for a few days and do not get in the eyes. Your clinic or hospital will answer sny queries you have. Good luck.

hi Marysuds. I have wet in both and had cataracts done in 2020. After injections I leave eye makeup for a few days and buy a new mascaras & eyemakeup remover. I too leave washing my hair for 48 hours and don’t do my Aqua class for 5 days. As I’m intolerant of iodine, so don’t have, I am uber careful after injections and don’t dust or garden for 5 days or do anything that creates dust.

Thanks both of you, that seems very reasonable I’ll go along with that, also I’ll buy some new makeup. Xx

I agree with all the advice above.I love wearing my makeup as makes me feel good so enjoy wearing it when it is safe to do so, call it vanity but hey I don’t care! 😂

I have injections for wet in both eyes. I don't wash my hair for at least four days after injections. I also avoid gardening for a couple of days at least, and wear wrap-around sunglasses. I leave eye make-up for at least four days too, longer if (as sometimes happens) a corneal capillary has been nicked. I make sure the brushes are freshly washed, I just use powder shadow, no liquid or paste or mascara. And I use micellar water with clean cotton pads to take it off, followed by a hot water compress to clear the eyelashes and make sure everything has gone, and then some Hylo-tears (separate bottles for each eye) against dry eye.

I wear makeup the day after the injection.

I get injections in my left eye. I wait a week before using eyeliner and 4 days before I wash my hair. Just make sure to take your eye makeup off every night.
