I had an Eylea injection to my left eye on Monday and it became very bloodshot straight away. The white of my eye is a very dark red. It’s now Saturday and it is not getting any better. The nurse who did the injection said it would take a few days to clear. Could anyone advise me how long it will take please. I have had injections to my right eye for 3 years and never had this problem. This was the first injection to my left eye and it’s my ‘good eye’ so I am concerned.
Thank you in advance.

Hi photomon. Sometimes that can happen when the injector hits a little blood vessel which can happen from time to time as they can't always see where the blood vessels are. You could contact the eye clinic where you had the injection, especially if you have any swelling or pain and ask advice but when it happened to me, it took almost two weeks to clear and that was a bad one too. Good luck. x
More often than not, I do get a bloodshot eye.... usually it is gone in a week. It is painless. Most often I get the black polo rounds....they always have always disappeared the next day. Four times last year, I had temporary blindness in my injected eye! Within 20 minutes that cleared up, thank the Lord!
All I can say is this: whatever it takes, I will endure it because the more I read about these injections, the more hope I have that they will prevent my AMD from getting worse.
My dr. has a good technique....BUT his assistant does not! On one appointment, whatever she did caused temporary blindness that lasted 7 hours, and I had the need to use almost a whole bottle of solution for dry eye!
This was my experience with it also. My eye was so bloodshot after this past injection that one could not see any white at all. My friends commented on it.
I have had bloodshot eyes and they have taken over a week, perhaps 2 to completely go.I did ring the eye clinic about it and they were not too concerned
Hi, I'm afraid It can happen, and of course it varies how long it will actually take to completely go, as someone has said obviously if you have any pain then ask advice, I have Eyelea injections, occasionally the eye does get red, but soon clears. Best wishes.
Thank you for your reply. I thought the redness would clear after a couple of days. As it was nearly a week and it was no better I was concerned, but reading other people’s experiences has helped a lot.
I am shielding at the moment so as least no one can see my scary look!
Hi, yes it happens sometimes, with varying severity - I've had just a blood spot and a ribbon, all the way to a "demon" eye with bloody tears running down my face! They put a dressing patch on me for that one - more so I didn't scare everyone else in the waiting room I think ;)The bad one was uncomfortable as it's swollen but you just have to give it time. I think mine took a couple of weeks. Good luck with yours x
I just missed Halloween when mine was scariest lol. ( check out the pic I posted back then ).
Thank you for your reply. I think I must have been lucky to have not had his before. I definitely have demon eye! Fortunately I am shielding so only my husband can see me! Thanks again.
I have had several bleeds. Some look worse because the injection is in the lower section of the eye. Mine have taken up to a week to clear. It is upsetting. I hope you have no pain and yours clears soon.
More often then not, I get the red eye. It is nothing to worry about. It does not hurt. Will take almost a week to disappear, but it always disappears.
Hi there i have had three Eylea injections to my right eyehad slight redness the first time that went away after about three days. However on the second occasion I think a blood vessels was hit, it took about three and a have weeks for there to be a clear noticeable improvement in the bloodshot eye.
I started to get a little worried as mozt of the notes re how long the bloodshot last ref to two weeks, I guess it depends on a rang of hidden factors. Dear hope your eye improves soon, Im sure it will with a little time.
