Eye injections for Retina Vein Occlusion

Have just had my 5th eye injection with Avastin. Had a decrease in sight from last test. Blood buildup does not seem to be breaking up and still have fluid build up. I wonder where we go from here if this is not working. I have hemi retina vein occlusion in left eye.

Hello leardalla

Sorry to hear your injections not helping you currently. Such a worrying time for you.

I think they may try you with Eylea if Avastin not working.

I have a different diagnosis to you (CNV due to high myopia) and was told before I started my injections if Eylea didn't work they could try Avastin. I guess it is trial and error to see which medicines help individuals. Something to discuss with your consultant.

Best of luck to you and my best wishes. 2468G

Allan

x4 avastin injections got me discharged by the consultant/surgeon.

Still happily ( touch wood ) driving x5 years on, at 72 now.

Maybe not at all relevant / helpful Allan but hope there's some encouragement about avastin, at least.

Good luck, of course.

Thanks John,

I'm sure things will work out. My initial Dr went out on sick leave, so my 2nd injection was delayed 2 months which I feel delayed my progress

Thanks ,

Allan

Thanks Rosy,

Hi, I had 19 lucentis, 4 eyelea, and now over 3 1/2 yrs later heading for fourth ozurdex implant - my brvo oedema has not been ' cured' but I still read work and drive and the treatments have definitely helped.

You are still early days so don't worry, there are still options for your treatment and every chance one will work. Best wishes going forward.
