White Eye Floaters after eating?

Hi I have been experiencing what appears to be a bright white light that floats up from the corner of my left eye up to the top of the eye. It has been happening every day for what seems like the last 12 months. I have had every test going under ophthalmology as at times I also experience peripheral blurry vision in the same eye!

I have had visual field tests; Orbital MRI; VEP & ERG and despite all these tests they cant find a cause. I have a Pituitary Adenoma and Sinus polyps but they don’t think this is the cause.

In fact they told me that my right eye seems to be the one with the issue and that I have retina deterioration which is likely to have been a developmental issue? I am very short sighted and my right eye is the worst. -7.50. My left is -4.25.

Due to all the vision tests etc it got me thinking whether I have the floaters when my lenses are in or when I have my glasses on and it’s definately both. In fact I had my eyes closed the other day and I saw it with my eyes closed?

I have also noticed that it tends to happen in the evening and I am wondering if it’s linked to food, as I also notice it after I have eaten??

I don’t have diabetes!

Any clues about what could be going on would be greatly appreciated!! I am assuming the round white bright light I see is a floater as it seems to float upwards from the corner of my left eye?

Please let me have your thoughts... all thoughts are welcome because I was discharged from ophthalmology last week and this issue is still happening in my left eye on a daily basis!

Thanks in advance!

Wendy

Could it be a migraine type event?

Hi Willnick. I don’t get any pain like a typical headache but it could be a silent one I guess. Thanks for your response.

I get migraine but the headaches are not very bad as I get older.

Migraines must be awful. Do you have an eye condition?

Have they checked the pressure of your eye? I found I had similar floaty light circles when my eye pressure is higher than it should be

I experienced this years ago. I thought it was snow falling off my hat at first. It turned out to be a floater in the end. But di have your eye pressure checked, if it's not been done recently, as Eyerecovery1 suggests. Best luck!
