I receive monthly eye injection in the right eye. My doctor just cancelled this month’s appointment due to a ‘scheduling conflict ‘ . No appointment for this month means I wait until next month for my next injection. What does this mean for my eye?
My insurance requires I get a referral to see a specialist, so changing doctors would still create a month without an injection.
I’m upset especially since I haven’t experienced much improvement with the last 2 injections.
I feel marginalized. It’s ridiculous the doctor couldn’t give me another eye appointment to ensure I get the injection. Has anyone else experienced the same treatment? What happened to your progress ? Did it help or hurt your eyesight?
Thank you for allowing me to vent. Sometimes it’s all we can do.

I agree with kevinaki. kick up a fuss. Maybe it's OK to leave a 6 week gap, but 2 months seems too long. However it's not the end of the world that there's a 2 months ; but I'd chase them up and try and get an injection before it 2 months. How very irresponsible of your consultant to leave you high and dry though. I do sympathise. All the best: let us know how you get on xx
Maybe he's going on vacation for 2 months. Seems irresponsible that he could not have someone else give you the injection. As for injections, they usually tend to stabilize (stop progression) rather than reverse the condition.
Whether your eye will be harmed by going two months without an injection is unknown. I have found that when you freak out about these things, they will find a way to accommodate you. Give it a try......and good luck.
I had to cancel my appointment and the office had to squeeze me in ASAP. Call them back and try to get one soon. Do you know if your eyesight is suppose to improve with the injections? For me my sight won't improve , just won't deteriorate any further. Don't get yourself down, unless your Doctor said after 2 treatments you should see changes you really may not. Ask more questions. It isn't easy to go through this process. Hang in and I wish you the best of luck.
The doctor indicated there was improvement from the first to the second injection. Then from the second to the third there was some regression. He stated we may need to change the prescription for the injection based upon this month's progress. Since I am not seeing him this month the idea he expressed is mute.
You are not alone you mentioned regression, I also went through that. We are all different our bodies, conditions, medical factors. Don't fall into believing the treatments and outcomes will always be the same. The Doctor knows this quite well. Please call your office today and try again for an appointment ASAP. If you can't I would think the office feels waiting is OK, in my case I couldn't extend the time between injections or I would regress. I'm sending Much support your way.
Missing a scheduled appointment date makes a very significant difference for me. My vision deteriorates and it can take 2-3 more injections to return to square 1.
Personally, I would remonstrate and insist on a much earlier appointment. Surely, his or her schedule is not totally booked up for a full month. A shot takes no more than 5mins max to prepare and administer.
Uncaring.
At my clinic the nurses do the injections very competently.
Please ask to speak with the physicians assistant if the receptionist cannot help with a sooner appointment. Perhaps your physician has an associate who could see you for this visit.
