Does anyone on here use lutein see clear product instead of AREDS2. The see clear just has lutein.bilberry extract and carrot extract. Is there a site I can visit that answers all questions about AREDS2?....I'm thinking the lutein and zeaxanthin are the 2 main ingredients for macula health...trying to find out about see clear versus areds.

Lutein versus areds2
Good Morning horseaddict,
The formula for Lutein Seeclear is:
Lutein 5% preparation
200mg
Providing Lutein
10 mg
Bilberry Extract whole herb equivalent200mg-
Carrot Powder200mg
The formula for AREDs 2 is:
500 mg vitamin C,
400 IU vitamin E,
10 mg lutein,
2 mg zeaxanthin,
25 mg zinc,
2 mg copper
The strongest evidence for supplement is for the AREDS 2 supplement. There is currently insufficient evidence to recommend any other nutritional supplements. This is because there are many studies of nutritional supplements but some are too small and of too short duration, or are of combinations of compounds, making it difficult to assess the relative contributions of each.
While we believe that taking supplements containing lutein may be beneficial to eye health, we do not endorse any brand. Shops such as boots and other health food places sell supplements which follow AREDs 2 formula, such as Macushield Gold. You can also look at butterflies-eyecare.co.uk/ and filter results specifically for AREDs 2 supplements.
Talk to your GP before taking supplements or making major changes to your diet, especially if you take other medications.
All the Best

Thanks becky. I have been on AREDS2 for 9 months and only just found out to NOT take it with milk..as it affects the absorbsion rate zinc calcium aspect. etc.. I didnt know this and have been taking with breakfast cereal every day..can i still have milk in my diet? and if so.how long in between having the milk and taking the AREDS2 pill?.
I’ve not heard this said of AREDS supplements. Absorption of vitamins and minerals can be affected by a number of factors, variable with each one, and not just what you eat when you take them. It’s a complicated area!
We're not aware any research to suggest milk would inhibit absorption but if you want to avoid drinking milk and taking the tablets at the same time maybe leave a few hours between breakfast and taking the tablet. By which time your breakfast will have probably passed out of your stomach
All the best,
Becky
I never heard of see clear I take lutein with zeaxanthin and also bilberry I didn’t know there was a product combining them
