Hi,

I was looking for Macusave tablets on Amazon and found some Lutein etc from a company called Alpha 01, ( or Alpha zero one). They are very much cheaper then the usually brands, so I wonder if anyone knew anything about this company or product?

Many thanks

I have been using some from Amazon called MOBU which seem to be helping as I have macular oedema in both eyes, the left hasn’t needed treatment for ver a year about as long as I have been taking it. I will continue taking it

Never heard of this company but it's worth digging into if the price is good. I use the visionace max from boots because it's always on the 3 for 2 offer.

thanks for your replies. Some of these products claim much more than the 10mg advised for AREDS2.

Can't say I have heard of that but I take a supplement from Vitabiotics which has lutein etc. and have taken it for a number of years. They have a three for two offer which helps.

Dear willnick,

Which form of macular degeneration have you been diagnosed with?

If you are currently under an ophthalmologist, then it would be worth asking them if they would advocate that an eye supplement could be of particular benefit to you. If so, it would be worth clarifying if they would recommend a particular supplement? e.g. If you have AMD, if they would advocate an AREDS 2 formula supplement?

I have copied a link to our booklet on nutrition, which refers to the Age Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) trials, which the AREDS 2 formula is based on:

Our webinar, Eat for your eyes, may also be of assistance:

It is important to check with your GP or pharmacist before taking any supplements, just in case they conflict with any existing medication or medical conditions.

Hi - thank you for your message. I have dry in both eyes, I first started getting signs of it about 12 years ago, and its pretty stable, but my left eye is pretty bad in terms of distortion.

I only see an optician annually and he agrees about the supplements. I have been taking the AREDs 2 supplements for a number of years. Of course you never know how much they are helping.

I try to eat well and stay active.

Nick
