Uveitis and Avastin Injections
Have you checked with your local eye hospital in Spain? If not, you could always give them a call and ask them or check online. Are you from the UK?
I'm resident in Spain and on lockdown. I had 2 injections at Moorfields eye hospital London and then came back to Spain for 10 days but it now Lockdown and can't get back to get for injections. I went to private hospital and they want to charge 1300 euros for 1 injections. Private Hospital told me that you can't have Avastin injections here in Spain only very expensive alternative.
Oh goodness Oldwood. What a nightmare! I really don't know what to suggest. That's an awful lot of money to pay isn't it. Is your eye very bad? I know that Avastin is the cheapest anti-VEGF injection and that Lucentis and Eylea are more expensive. It looks like you'll have to wait until lockdown has ended as the Covid cases have slightly increased again in Spain haven't they?
Perhaps someone else might know if it's administrated in Spain. Avastin injured. Hopefully thank you for replying 👏👏🙏🙏
Hi Oldwood, I’m in Cyprus and yup that is what the Lucentis and Eyelea
Injections cost. I’ve joined the new healthcare system and have just had four injections funded apart from €200 each, which is a help. Maybe Spain
Has a similar system. Have you joined Spain’s Health system, I’ve heard
It’s quite good.
How do you access gp services in Spain? I would've thought they could advise you on local non private eye clinic or has brexit affected what you're entitled to?
Hope you get something sorted x
The doctors at local Amblatorio are only doing phone calls and it's hard to explain the situation. Thank you for replying
Hello Oldwood,
Have you checked if your closest hospital with an eye clinic also has an emergency eye clinic that you could ring and discuss your situation with? They should be able to advise on current services available based on the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
