wet macular dried up ?

hello all, I had scans on my eye 5 weeks ago at the hospital for wet Macular. I have been back today for what I thought would have been an injection. I had another scan and then seen the doctor who said my eye had dried up ? He said it could be OCR and wants another eye scan to confirm this. He did say the last scans showed my eye was leaking and now it’s dried up. He said he didn’t want to give me the injection if not needed at this time. Has any one else heard of this? He’s going to monitor my eye and said to check both eyes daily. Ros

Good morning,

OCR is a condition where any pressure in the eye directly effects the heart rate and is not associated with fluid build up. However CSR is a condition where fluid can leak in to a space between the macular and the retina. This can be reabsorbed naturally and sounds like what you have described. You may wish to confirm this with your eye clinic.

If you have a look at the link below, it may provide some useful information for you.

Thank you for this information Paul. I too have lost central vision which has rectified without treatment so it is interesting to find a possible cause.

Yes, it has happened to me. I was getting Eylea HD injections in both eyes about every 9 to 10 weeks. However, my left eye has now reached a point where I no longer need an injection until about 20 weeks. Right eye still needs one about every 9 to 10 weeks. So it seems there are instances where an eye will dry up for extended periods of time.

I have been getting Lucentis eye injections since 2018. Each visit I will have a scan. The scan will show weather those abnormal blood vessels are leaking and if there is fluid present. Wet macular degeneration occurs when abnormal blood vessels grow beneath the retina and leak fluid or blood, causing rapid and severe vision loss, particularly in the central field. The injections help to stop the growth of the abnormal blood vessels and reduce leakage. So the injections work for a while, then the effects decrease and the disease process recurs - and another injection is needed. Sometimes the medication becomes less effective and the doctor will switch to a different injection medication. I get injections now at about every 12 weeks.

My last scan said wet macular and was leaking. I’m

Having another scan Incase it could be CSR ? I said to the Doctor so you don’t think it’s wet since it dried up and he said he couldn’t be sure ? It could be CSR just waiting for my next scan to find out. He said to check each eye every day and if it starts again to go straight to the eye hospital.

My doctors did this for me also - trying to figure out if it was Wet Age-related Macular Degeneration or CSR. They checked, scanned a few times and observed me from December 28, 2017 - until early March of 2018. They determined it was the AMD and began injections. Good Luck.
