I have been advised by a specialist I saw privately that Eylea 8mg would be the most suitable for my eye as the injections I have been having are no longer working. Unfortunately the eye hospital I attend have been refused funding for the 8mg by their NHS trust. Does anyone know how I would find out which hospitals it is available at and if I would be allowed to have the injections done therè?

Where to get Eylea 8mg

hi there firstly I guess they did your eye pressure measurement and there is no issue there is that right? As Eylea 8mg can def increase eye pressure. The 8mg did not go through the usual channels to be used within the NHS and that maybe why they are refusing it.
finding a hospital using it might be a challenge and would of course mean you have to change hospital for your care
Have you trialed Vabysmo ( Faricimsb) ? Do they have that at your clinic?
I wish you well
Thanks for your reply. I didn’t know that about the eye pressure do that’s something to take into account. I have been offered Vabysmo but one specialist I spoke too didn’t recommend it because I have a very large epithelial detachment. It’s so difficult to know what to do for the best.
Hi. Sorry to hear this.Did your consultant not offer any advice at all?
If it were me I would contact the ECLO at your hospital for advice.
Are you just seeking private eye care or are you able to speak to the nhs directly? They maybe able to help.
I transferred from one trust in Birmingham to another in Dudley as it was slightly closer to me.
The eye injection procedure is different under both as is the advice under pressure on my eyes.
They are all different and don't speak to each other. I had to take photos of my scans on my phone when I transferred over as my previous consultant advised this.
Good luck and I would also consult with the macular society for advice.
Yes I have to take photos of the scans on my phone or go through Freedom of Information, which takes forever, if at all! I am on the waiting list for the photodynamic laser treatment, which sounds a bit scary. I’m not a priority though. I shall carry on with my research and hope for the best. Many thanks for your reply,
I've had 7 sessions of laser treatment. It's much better than injections.
