Myopic CNV and a little question

It feels good to read great experiences. This is a hard process. My wife is the one who has CNV in both eyes being threated right now with Lucentis. She is just 32 I think I suffer more than her because this is like a roller coaster, everything began when she was 18 due to high myopia. Good and bad moments. I would like to ask something. How many time did you have to wait from a bleed (active CNV) to get the Injection. She had a bleed on her left eye last wednesday and the injection is scheduled for tomorrow. I'm afraid for the time. 3 months ago the injection was applied 15 minutes after a bleed, is an incredible story, she bled on retinologist consultation, two month later she recovered 90%. Unforotunately 3 weeks ago she had another bleed but this time it wasn't in the center so she can still read, drive and work.

I had my one and only bleed on a holiday weekend in the US so by the time I went through my HMO and got the referral it was 6 days. Mine was due to myopia also. I am lucky because so far I haven’t had another bleed. It has completely healed.

I just checked the Amsler Grid yesterday one year later and there is no distortion. Mine was severe. Thank God for the Avistan shot.

I’m glad to hear that you are ok. When you say it was severe you mean a big bleed? How many time did you take to recover?

It was hard for them to find without having an angiogram done with the green dye. But the bleed was right in the center of my retina so my vision was highly distorted.

The day after my shot my vision was 50% better. I was ecstatic. Slowly over the next few weeks it became better. I had a slight distortion for many months but it was nothing that stopped me from living. I even went on a Italy cruise last October (which was only 5 months later) but I did make certain to get the names of ophthalmologists in Venice and Rome.

But now it’s 100% healed. I only have to see a doctor now if I think I’m having an issue. Which I would know immediately.

I did send all my myopic family members an email about this problem. My contacts were -8.0 and the doctor said it’s usually seen in people that have worst vision. It truly came out of the blue for me.

Once again let me know how things go.
