Can you have an eylea injection if you are having a course of antibiotics for a chest infection.

I am on a course of antibiotics for a chest infection can I still have an eylea injection which is due this week

I think they are careful if you are coughing and spluttering because of the transfer of bacteria and risk of you moving but I think you will have to be guided by the staff when you get there. Make sure you tell them and the doctor will decide. This was the information I was given when I asked what would happen if one had a cold.

They were worried when I had a foot injury - might be an antibiotic related thing as it and potential infection will be in the bloodstream so in the eye too?

Ring your clinic - better reschedule now if they want you to than a wasted journey ( and an appt someone else could use).

I am sorry that you have a chest infection, and hope that the antibiotics are helping you recover. However, I would recommend that you speak with a Health professional at the clinic, preferably before you go.

The risks could be for you – as other posters have indicated- contamination and infection, or trauma through moving during the procedure, and to others as you mix with others at the hospital if you are still coughing or infectious.

Maybe the doctor can re-schedule your planned injection under the circumstances.

Thank you for your reply. Chest infection is now better, I was more concerned about the antibiotics as the physician always ask if you have been on antibiotics recently. I wondered why he asked. Does anyone know.
