Went for a well needed eye test last week, expecting a new prescription for my glasses. Was told to go to A&E. My left eye was giving me wobbly line. I was injected with eylea that afternoon and told to let it calm down for a few days. I now have a greyish hole on the focal point. It slightly distorts what I focus on and sucks all the colour out of it as well. I've got an appointment next week, which I can't come soon enough. Since the injection, I've found it so tiring and quite difficult to focus. Literally is there "any light at the end of the tunnel ?"

Getting to know Myopic cnv
sorry to hear this but pleased they are acting quickly- normally one would have to wait a while for approval of Eyelea Not sure about your other points but some knowledgeable people on here will answer
Sorry to hear if your problem but do be encouraged that treatment is now available. Your condition wasn't eligible for NHS treatment like the more common types of macular degeneration until more recently.
Do ring the Macular Society Helpline for information, advice and support in office hours on 0300 30 30 111. They are great!
As long as your other eye is OK your brain should take the better image and the damage may not be too noticeable. The injections hopefully will limit the damage and stabilise your vision. That's what happened with my condition anyway. Some people find that there is an improvement in vision after treatment but that is not a given.
A glass half full attitude helps but even if you do lose some vision there is a massive amount of support available from professionals in low vision to peer support in the voluntary sector.
It is very distressing I know to learn that you have a serious eye condition but most of us lead normal lives after coming to terms with our eye conditions if treated early.
Very best wishes for you and your eyes!
Sending you a hug x
The emotional impact of sight problems is know to be comparable to bereavement so be kind to yourself - it takes time to adjust.
The inj work well for most folk and it sounds like your hospital has everything in hand so you are in the system which is the first hurdle.
Usually the loading dose is 3 inj each a month apart then a review. Make sure you have a list of questions and write down their answers at your appt next week ( or have someone with you to do it).
Gilmosely is right, the Mac Soc are great. This forum is good support too. Some of us still work and drive. Let us know how you get on, you are not alone.
Thanks for responding to my post. Will take on board your comments. 😎
Hi,
I also have myopic cnv left eye, diagnosed last September now going for injection no 6 on Tuesday . I had 3 as a loading dose and vision in eye improved greatly incl distortion and squiggly lines,
I still have fluid behind the eye but they have stopped the bleed that’s why the injections have continued. I have to get a total of 8 injections so far then another OCT scan to establish if the fluid has settled down. I get Lucentis injections.
Macular Society were a great help as was everyone on here.
Take care and good luck.
X
