Is there many people under the age of 50 with Wet MD undergoing injection treatment?

I have PED Wet MD (think I am too young to call it AMD) and I would be interested to know if there are many people under the age of 50 with Wet MD. I am 46 years old and already have had 3 injections last year and suspect i will need more injections - currently awaiting to have dye test done in the coming week. Would love to hear from other younger people with wet MD and how frequent they are having treatment/injections. I take Lutein Omega 3 daily and again would be interested to know what other supplements people are taking.

Hi,

I had wet MD when I was 45 yrs old... I had 3 avastin injections 4 weeks apart, each injection improved my vision and after the 3rd injection the bleed stopped completely and my eye sight was restored back to how it was before, although my vision is distorted a little... i only notice it when looking at mugs or cans of food, as they appear buckled.

Since then I've had regular checks at the hospital and my condition has been stable for just under 2 years.

So I can't comment on ongoing treatment but I would say, don't give up hope. They are finding different treatments all the time, so all is not lost.

AlinaL - many thanks for the reply. Were you recommended to take any specific food supplements?

Hi,

No I asked my consultant and his view was that as long as I have a balanced diet (which I do) then at my age there was no need for supplements. Nutrients and oxygen would be getting to my eyes... I believe for much older sufferers that's not the case.

My results were fantastic! They said my age was working for me.

I really hope they are able to successfully treat you
