Hi Fuzzbox100. You could be right but I agree with Koalajane, you should contact your eye clinic and tell them what's happening or go to the A&E at your eye hospital or clinic. Good luck.
At bedtime, When Input the lights out and closed my eyes last night, it was if I had a light still shining in my eye. This eventually eased / disappeared after about 15 minutes.
Hi Fuzzbox, I also have myopic macular degeneration and sometimes . .experience a bright light when turning off the light at night. Whilst I don’t think this is a problem I would definitely contact your eye clinic or go to A & E to have your other symptoms checked out.
Hi Fuzzbox, I have had (and still have) odd events like this - I have a kind of faint veil on the outer edge of sight, only visible against a very pale surface, and I get odd dark intermittent blotches in low light, I also get that impression of light after turning off the lights, or even just closing my eyes in darkness. But whenever I mentioned this and someone actually looked at my retinas, they couldn't see anything going wrong. I would definitely ask for a proper retinal examination, but it may not be anything significant. I think it's possible that lots of people with healthy eyes 'see' lights or blotches now and then but discount them as quirks - those of us with real problems will always notice them more and worry about them.
I had an 'emergency' appointment with my optician yesterday. She did a number of tests but couldn't find anything specific. I'm going back tomorrow to do a check with dilated pupils just so she can see the back of the eye. But the macular scan didn't show anything unusual. But I definitely have what I can only describe as a 'blob' at the bottom of my eye. Not directly in the field of vision looking forwards but it's definitely 'there'.
Oh, and one test that didn't go too well was the 'field of vison' one. I don't know the technical name for it but you look at a small orange light and all around, flashes appear at random locations. You hit the button each time one appears. I definitely hit the button less with my affected eye!
Not great news on this - visited optician today who, after dilating my pupils, found that I had a partially detached retina. So immediately off to the hospital for further tests and a procedure to reattach tomorrow.
I had my retina reattachment procedure carried out on Tuesday at UHCW, Coventry. Not the most fun thing ever but they ‘got it done’. So now in the recovery phase. No sight at all in the affected eye but the surgeon said don’t expect anything for a few weeks as the inserted ‘air bubble’ does its work. My other eye is a ‘lazy’ eye - I can see out of it but not well. Squint correction done as a child didn’t work very well! So definitely a bit hampered at the moment. Apologies for any typos - I’m not able to write very well just using my right eye!
I think you have done very well with your typing and coping with your procedure Fuzzbox. Take it easy for a few weeks and don’t be too demanding of your ‘lazy eye’ as I know from experience that it will need a bit of rest time from its new responsibilities! Wishing you all the best 🙂
There’s no actual cure as yet and even when I had a 7 month break from injections it did come back. Please get an appointment with your doctor for a referral or even go to an opticians as they can check for most things now. Good luck!
