Hating Tuesdays!

Tuesday and Wednesday are the most dreaded days of my week as today is a Methotrexate day. Cue feeling nauseous and being too scared to eat more than toast from fear of throwing up. Damn these tablets! Lets just hope they are doing there job and making me better, however long its taking them!

I'm sure it'll do us wonders - its just the journey we need to go through to get to feeling better :)

Hi E-say

Sorry to hear how bad metha makes you feel. Has it made a difference with your lupus, or is it early days yet?

A friend of mine who has this med for RA, says folic acid helps with the sickness. But I believe it's standard practice to give this along side metha, so your probably already on it.

The other option is to swop to injections. I might be trying this as my next med, as I can't tolerate oral meds.

Hope you feel better soon. X

Hiya Roobarb,

Still early days - I only take it once a week and today was my 4th week. I'm on folic acid too, but I normally feel better again by the time I'm meant to take that. I'm considering swapping, but as its still early I'll hold off for now and see how it goes.

Should (fingers crossed) be feeling better tomorrow! X

Hi welcome to the meth club lol been on the drug for 8 months now on injections for 8 wks as the tabs made we feel so sick and triggered irritable bowel. Pleased to say that it is only sun that I feel awful. Take the inject sat night. Take two frolic acid the day before the does. While on the tabs was suggested that I split the dose over two days. It is only now that I am beginning to see slight changes and dose being upped to 17.5 this weekend. Biggest problem I have had is a stone in weight gain.

Hi

I have been on 10 mg meth for 12 months and I am pleased to say that the side effects have decreased and the effect on my lupus can now be seen. I am topping up the meth with steroids and suspect that I will have my dosage upped when I see my rheumy in may. One side effect that does worry me however is my hair loss, it seems constant. Thankfully I had a lot of hair and therefore it hasn't really been obvious but if it continues, I will have to deal with it!

Persevere as meth does make a difference and good luck

I'm also on steroids, 20mg a day, as well as 10mg meth every week. All i'm experiencing at the moment is sickness - no hairloss yet, so fingers crossed it wont happen! Although, like you I have a lot of hair so it thinning a bit won't make much of a difference. I'm battling through! Thank you xx

I have been on 25mgs Methotrexate for 3 years. Switching to self injection will help hugely with nausea. I inject on a Tuesday night in my tummy. Switching to daily folic acid also helps greatly with nausea and hairloss. I use a combination of two anti sickBuness meds. Cyclizine and Buccestan. Together they do the job. Eat little and often. Bananas are good!!. Hope this helps xx

Thank you, I have found that eating little bits and more often is a lot more helpful than one big meal! I'm on folic acid, but only once a week (every friday), so its normally after the sickness has gone, I see my doctor every monday anyway so will talk to him in regards to dealing with the sickness. Thanks! xx
