Hi are there are national centres of excellence for the treatment of SLE, or does anyone know of a good private dr offering support in this area.
Is Rheumatology the best discipline to be under?
husband currently going through assessment and though the NHS has been excellent and very quick, we are not too happy with our allocated consultant Rheumatologist

Proff. D. D'Cruz, Guy's and St.Thomas Hospital, they deal with both private and NHS. They are based in London, Westminster Bridge.
Is this NHS consultant rheumatologist a generalist OR a lupus specialist. There’s a huge difference. Private vs NHS makes no difference to care quality!
My wife has used the London Lupus center with great effect...Professor Edwards and Dr Kaul were particularily helpful and knowledgable as regards Lupus......they are also open to video conferencing consultations
Hello, I travel 2.5 hours to Bath as they are a centre of excellence for Lupus and Sjogrens. I have lots of other AI issues going on too including fibro abd unfortunately over the years my most frustrating experience is that no one place treats everything and the different hospitals or even departments never 'speak' to each other. London Bridge Hospital Lupus Centre. It is private (although most doctors also work in NHS). They are all excelkent.
UCLH in London Professor Isenberg doesn't do private but some of his colleagues do.

My rheumatologist unfortunately has now retired. My lupus has now been quiescent for the past two years. Have been under his care for the past thirty years. He was based at Charing Cross Hospital, Prof McWorth - Young and specialised in immune system diseases and arthritis. I think he has a private clinic in London.
