Have you tried ibuprofen and paracetamol (both full strength) at the same time. As long as theres no para in the ibu or vice versa then its fine. Failing that it has to be the gp. Sorry. J.XX

I totally feel for you!

Mefenamic acid 500mg has helped me most over the decades with my sick migraine type monster headaches. I take one tab the minute I suspect a headache is coming on, which nips it in the bud. Much harder to stop my headaches once ithey've got going full on. No other Rx i've tried over the decades has ever helped me with my headaches at all. Funny thing is, I originally had been given mefenamic for monster period pain, which it helped a lot...I only discovered it stopped monster headaches by chance. The mefenamic leaflet says SLE patients should be cautious about taking mefenamic, but my gp and rheumy think my use is infrequent enough to be ok

In case it helps, ome background: I'm on hydroxy and Amitriptyline mainly. years on NSAIDs & copraxamol etc were a desperate waste of time and injured my GI. For big pain events I take meptazinole and clonazepam, but haven't had to resort to them for some time. Am feeling sort of lucky, haha

Take care and good luck

Feverfew (extract of daisy) worked for me and my rheumy said they were ok to take with hydroxy and methotrexate :0)

Thank you to everyone for your advise, I became so desperate that l took a list of all the drugs l take to my local Chemist, and the pharmacist went through all of them and checked all the tablets he had, he gave me a brand of Mygraleve and l took the first dose and within an hour it started to ease down, what a wonderful feeling and reflief, I will mention this to my gp on my next visit. I will always carry some with now. x x

Hi Lucy, having read the comments I was going to say migraleve, the pink ones really do work in a short time. Having been a migraine sufferer for years I have rarely ever taken the yellow one.
