Body temperature!

Does anyone else get night sweats? Even on these cold nights, and I don't have heating on in the bedroom and unless it is very windy usually have a window slightly open. I wake up pouring with sweat. Its really horrid, am over the menopause now and live alone so no other body to 'heat me up'.

Yes yes yes yes and yes. Exactly the same, and VERY annoying. Sometimes a couple of co -codamol at bedtime helps

Yes for the night sweats, these quite often are so bad they wake me up after a couple of hours Far worse than menopause, like you there is no one to wake me up with their body heat so it is purely down to you know what. Also have these during the day, when for no apparent reason my core temperature fluctuates wildly, one minute I'm pouring with sweat and the next so cold my teeth are chattering, iterally, and I can't seem to get warm at all. Love

Yes, me too. I have read on various websites that fevers & night sweats are a symptom of lupus. Ive had it since my lupus symptoms began 14 years ago, when I was early 30's. So definitive not menopause. For me it's an indicator of a flare, & usually coincides with extremely painful joints & worsening skin rashes. In the short term paracetamol help, but sometimes I've needed to resort to an slight increase in prednisolone to get it under control.

i have the same with the window open. Also during the day and eve I have to open windows. Just as quickly I go from normal warmth to freezing cold. Had that in the summer when it was 35° ! Didn't know it had to do with our friend.

I get very hot and red in the face and sweat a bit, mine happen mainly duing the day, only last a few minutes at a time, dont have many during the night, I take 2000mg of evening primrose oil a day and it seems to help quite allot, my husband reckons we could turn the heating right down with the amount of heat I generate

I'm the same, granted not EVERY night, but I can wake up absolutely drenched in sweat sometimes. My OH says I'm like a hot water bottle in bed, as long as u stay clear of the hands & feet ;0) I get like it during the day too sometimes, it's like a flush & can even happen on a really cold day, I just get really hot & can feel all the sweat on my chest literally running off of me. Not really a good look ;0)

Yes me too. Luckily we have sheets and blankets on our bed so I can decide how many layers I want over me. I can't bear duvets!

During the day i can suddenly get really hot and sweaty or can be very cold. I just don't seem to be able to regulate my body temperature .

Oh yes I get them very different from menopausal hot flushes.

Hi I have hot flushes and cold shivers. I'm 47 and am awaiting the menopause, in what way are they different to menopausal flushes? Just wondered how I could tell the difference. Ta.

Yes, I get the very hot night sweats (I often compare myself to "boil in the bag" foods in the duvet) and I also get cold and shivery within minutes. I am 47 and should be heading for the menopause - witch2, in what way are they different to the menopausal flushes?

Huge YES,

my partner has made me switch sides of the bed so that I am near the window which i have to have open of a night time. We still have our summer duvet on and the heating is never above 18 degrees in our house.

I still wake up really hot, sweating and nauseous, have no idea how to control it - its not nice

Thanks for all your replies....I started getting 'sweaty' day and night when i was about 42 ish and the doctors said it was not menopause after blood tests. They continued and got sooo much worse when I was going through the menopause, always hot, sweating and feeling faint, sick and I used to soak the bed clothes at night. The really vile bit was the awful nightmares that went with the heat! That has subsided, am now 56, but still get phases when I get night sweats and temperature rises during the day. I occasionally get nightmares with it but not as bad as I used to. Seems like this is a symptom of Lupus and probably all those years ago something was brewing!

My rheumy asked if I thought I was going thru the menopause when I mentioned the sweats, flushes etc 2 him a couple of years ago. I just looked at him in disbelief, I was 31 & there is no history of early menopause in our family. Why is everything an 'Hormonal' issue when u're a woman? lol!

Hi, so sorry to learn of your night sweats, I too suffer these episodes, it's really uncomfortable at times, I keep a towel under my pillow and lie on it when I need to and I find this helps to make me a bit more comfortable. I get the day sweats also and I am hardly ever without a fan in my hand!! Good luck !!
