Brain fog triggered cold temperature

Since the real cold weather started, I have noticed my brain fog is almost constant if I get slightly colder than below 17 degree. I am fine when walking in cold. Actually it clears my head well for a while clearly due to the blood circulation and warming body. It happens when at home despite that I am keeping the central heating on all day long. Keeping it at 18 degree even with full heat on is not easy as I live in east facing Edwardian house. Brain fog triggered by colder ambient temperature is new to me. Is this common with Lupus? I have three layers of wool/cashmere, boiled wool trousers, wool socks and fingerless wool gloves on with heat on! Almost comical. 😂

I live more or less in ONE room these freezing days, highly insulated and completely draught proof!

Have a gas fire with a carbon monoxide, CO alarm/monitor on a bookcase next to it at my nostril level. It also has one CH radiator. I’m also very cold sensitive with dreadful red rash fingers. Always wear high tog winter gloves when outside. No brain fog as yet but only occasionally on waking!

It monitors CO levels constantly in case my chimney’s not working! No worries. I believe everyone with a burner should have one👆.

CH is only needed a few hours/day! 3 bed semi.

No need for all day CH.

My living room can reach up to over25°C within about an hour. Hence it’s only needed for about a hour each day! In that particular room temperature never drops below 20°C👍

You say, “Keeping it at 18 degree…”!

Is this the boiler thermostat temperature or your room’s air temperature. They are NOT the same. 🧐

My temperatures given above are actually the room’s air temperature as measured by a fairly accurate coloured alcohol in glass thermometer available in most chemists/pharmacies.I’m always reading them!

Regards

Well done! You have figured out a great way to live during this season! I cannot live in just one room...my husband works from home too and we both move around and cook a lot and etc. We have digital thermostat in all the rooms so it is the ambient temperature, not the boiler. Luckily the worst is coming to an end as the weather is supposed to get warmer from Sunday evening. Phew! Hope you stay safe. I have a friend who uses an oil heater which works very well too but too scary for me. I will just have to stick with my central heating and the energy bill. Next house is going to be more modern I think! 😂

Im the same , i find it difficult to think when im really cold , particularly in the freezing air at the moment. I keep well wrapped up , thermal socks and layers of clothing, though due to another treatment im on after a lumpectomy i can get surges of heat like a hot flush and i have to start taking layers off 🥵 !!

I am wrapped like you but I still get foggy if I am not careful. I am trying to do squats whenever I feel a bit foggy. I know what you mean about getting hot. It is almost as though my body is a boiler going on high! I just step out to my garden and take some breathing and cool off. Take care!

🤣🤣 i wish i could do squats !! I have inflammation in knee joints , too painful. It’s awful having extremes of body temperature, thermostat definitely on the blink !!

”…as I live in east facing Edwardian house…”

=====

Your room that faces directly East will get the rising sun!

Not bad!

The room facing West will get the hotter, setting sun and will be hot in summer. During the heatwave had to draw the curtains in this room. Too hot and bright with the glaring sun!

Rooms facing South will get the sun all day. Rooms facing due North get no sun and are usually damp and cold in winter.

This is the situation in the U.K., a northern hemisphere country👆

I know as I have lived with it for years! 😅😂

In an ideal world I should be in a dry region during winter time!
