Is anyone else with Lupus on statins. It is alarming to have found out that they can in fact cause Lupus like symptoms[patient information sheet information].My GP has just changed my statin as my bloods were not good and I am going to have to go for an x-ray on my hips as the pain is so bad.Is anyone else on statins?

Yes I'm on statins, been on them for many years. I have bad hips too, I've been diagnosed with bursitis of the hips. They are so painful not able to walk far. Have tried steriod injections quite a few times but they never seemed to work for me. I also have oesteoporosis from long term steriods I've also had a kidney transplant fifteen years ago.

I was put on Statins following open heart surgery in 2008 and I couldn't cope with all the aches and pains and came off them with my GPs support.

A few months later I was diagnosed with Lupus and last May my Consultant said I needed to go on statins as my cholesterol levels were high!

Guess what!

I started with those aches and pains again even after trying two different statins I have again come off them.

No doubt I will have to face the debate again with my Consultant but I am determined to leave statins behind.

I understand there are alternatives I will have to wait and see.
