Dont feel silly. The GP is there to answer all your questions. My hair fall out all the time. I read on the Lupus foundation site. That this could happen. So yes I have always figured it was part of my lupus. I do not sufer all the time with mind. Mostly joint pain and get really tired and have to sleep a bit more. and low fewers. Anyway ask the gp dont feel silly they are there to help. best of luck to you.

Hair falling out is distressing, but it does stop. My hair is now growing thicker and curly, after 50 yrs of dead straight hair! Ask your GP any questions you need to, and use this site

Hi there, I know from experience that this can be really distressing, but worrying can often make things worse. My hairdresser recommended a fabulous shampoo made by Joico (expensive!) but it has worked wonders to thicken my hair, I still lose quite a bit of hair but the recommended shampoo and conditioner does a great job of thickening my hair improving the overall appearance. Whilst this brand is great I would say that any products containing oatmeal would have the same effect, as like porridge it swells when liquid is added. I believe a no of supermarket products would do the same job.

All the best, I hope this is of some help.

Hey mitchel, dont ever be afraid to show concern about hairloss,i started to loose my hair ten yrs ago,, although i had lupus at the time, but wasnt officially diagnosed with it ,was told basically to chill out and stop worrying, omg!thats so unfair i thought ,im a hairdresser and knew something wasnt right, but i had so many other ailments i just learned to live with it ,Theres a supplement called BIOTIN it supports the make up of hair and nails ,i have seen great results ,also keep up those fish oils, also from a hairdressing perspective we shed more hair at certain times of year ,so add natural hairloss with lupus hairloss thats a lot of hairloss ,keep positive ,keep smiling ,brave ;)

My hairdresser advised argan oil. I did some research and is said to impdove fullness of hair and can slow down hairloss and speed up re-growth. Could give that a try? Along with making surs your omega3 levels are high enough. Don't be embarrassed to tell your doctor, I know it is hard but it wont be the first time they have heard it xxxxx

I have hair loss and it never grows back properly so I made the decision to have it all off after the initial impact my family and friends have got used to it I ahve loads of hats and a wig my Daughter in Law prefers me without my wig, I can see you have had some good advice from the others on your hair loss and please dont be afraid to ask your doctor anything she would have heard it all before and will propably be able to give you some advice take care ((((((((hugs))))))))

My hair fell out too and i went into wigs whilst it grew back. Guessing from your name you are male and it's not too easy for wig wearing is it lol? I now have a full head of thicker, gorgeous hair approaching my shoulders. Hasn't stopped me worrying about when i see natural daily hair shedding during my hair wash though! I use Lee Stafford Argan oil shampoo and conditioner which leaves lovely soft hair, didn't know it maybe promotes hair growth though! I also take Perfectil plus skin hair and nail supplements which are fantastic, loads of people recommend Sea kelp too for hair growth.

I have my flu jabs, in fact had mine two weeks ago at work with no side effects. Don't know if you're on immune suppressants Mitchel but you should have your jab. I work on a hospital ward and i have to say that despite the supressants i'm one of the ones least likely to go down with colds etc.

Never feel silly to voice your concerns to your GP or consultant, if they make you feel that way there are plenty of other GP's about. All the best.

hi it may sound silly to some of you, but thats the one thing that seriously depresses me, i have loads of wigs/hats/extentions and yes they are great but when u get cluster headaches the last thing you want is a hat/wig/extentions on your head, i looked like fryer tuck as i lost the whole of my hair on top of my head but still had the sides and back and when it grew back it was pure white and i was only 42 , im also on certain meds which causes hair loss to so plz dont be afraid to ask as we have such a complex disease that if you dont ask ull never know whether its a symptons or lupus :) sending spoons to one and all
