Anti CCP positive. I dont know what it means..

Hi all. Hope you are all having a tiptop day or at least a good plodding on day. Plodding on is very much under rated...anyway....

Ive just spoken with my GP thats waiting on more blood test results but tge one that has come back abnormal so far is the Anti CCP at 276.

I dont know anything about it but my main question is....us this likely to get me the diagnosis for Lupus along with my symptoms including the rash?

Hi there. Anti CCP is the more specific antibody for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) rather than Lupus. It’s possible to have both but RA can present very similarly to Lupus. Treatments are broadly the same.

Can RA give you the Malar Rash though?

It can give you Rosacea which can be hard to distinguish. Or sometimes it can overlap with aspects if you’re flaring. It’s a systemic autoimmune disease same as Sjögren’s and Lupus so there are often some overlapping symptoms. If you have RA they are more likely to treat you quickly and aggressively and there are many more treatments available than there are for Lupus or Sjögren’s.
