Hi I hope someone can help. I have had sle for 13 years and have been only treated with pain and thyroid meds but it got so bad I had to close my company down. I have lony been referred to rheumatologists regarding arthritis but he has never wanted to disguss lupus. Turns out my doc who has retired now hasn't documented lupus so back to square one. I am hoping someone will be able to recommend a rheumatologist in the central belt of scotland (although I will travel elsewhere for the right person) Some seem to be so closed minded to lupus. One rhumi told me I needed a psychiatrist at a point where I couldn't walk and my knees and ankles were so swollen I could only wear flip flops. If anyone can help I would be extremely greatful.
Thanks x

Did you have a positive LE Cell test Flynn? If so then what you say beggars belief and I would definitely find a new Rheumatologist!!! Sorry I can't help you with that personally as I'm way down south. Give it a few days and if no-one else here can I'll call my Rheumy and ask him to recommend someone for you - he may not know either but worth a try. Also try ringing Lupus UK Head Office to see whether they've had any Rheum guest speakers from your neck of the woods. Good luck!
Thank you very much for your kind offer Tigerlilly4. I have got a couple of names from fb in my area so will def give them a go. Still open to suggestions though.
Dr zoma, works from both hairmyres & Stonehouse hospitals is an expert on lupus, and a lovely man (if u don't mind appts running over!) did hear a rumour he was retiring soon tho
You're welcome Flynn Great to see some suggestions already! If none of these are convenient for you for travelling, PM me with your location and I'll contact mine for other suggestions nearer (if poss). He writes quite a few papers on SLE and seems to have contacts everywhere.
I am also from the central belt, when i found out I had Lupus 6 years ago the Rheumatologist in Falkirk hospital didn't know what else to do with me, i was in so much pain, so they referred me to Dr Max Field in Glasgow Royal well i have seen many doctors over the 6 year and i would Highly recomend him, They run a clinic on a Thursday, you can ask your Doctor to refer you, or may even write to him yourself.
