does anyone suffer with swelling from water retention,i have just been to docs with painful swelling in thighs and abdomen and he said i have water retention and its proberly due to lupus.
i don t know what to do everything is just so scary. Help Please.
I also get water retention and have been put on Fuoresemide to help combat it. It does help so perhaps your GP could prescribe something like that for you?
Everything can and does seem very scary and lupus is so different in everyone but take heart that a lot of people can empathise. I've found this forum really helpful and there's always someone who knows what you're going through. Hope you feel better soon
thankyou alupie
are you able to tell me why we get water retention with lupus as i have not had it before i got diagnosed, and i don t want to look it up on the internet as i end up scaring myself to death and then my poor husband has to listen to my fears alnight,he says if i look anything else up he will throw the laptop out the window LOL.(it scares him too)
I'm not sure why we get water retention but it's not just confined to those of us who have Lupus. My Mum also has it (she has diabetes) and is on water tablets. You sometimes hear of women having water retention around the time of their period.
Try not to worry. I know that's easier said than done but there are always people happy to talk; that's what I love about this forum
I find if i do too much i get water retention not just in my legs but all over, then i start burning up and go red all over, i have gotten used to it now and tend to slow down when this happens. Good luck i hope you get some
yes thats what i think has happened to me i feel that i did too much and then swelled up and yes i too don t just have it in legs but also tummy area pelvic area and hips i was just wondering how long yours lasted and did it subside if you rested or did you just keep moving to help it go,my doc doesnt want to give me tablets yet.
My partner's medication changed and after a few months she gained weight due to water retention, which is localised to the abdomen and chest. It's particularly bad around the 'time of the month' so we thought that it was more to do with a hormone imbalance / early menopause. She feels very uncomfortable and her self-esteem takes a battering.
She has been taking Furosemide for a few months now. Her weight stabilised and is now on the decrease although the water retention returns at certain times without explanation. Any form of exercise also seems to help.
heelo, i am 18 and had water retention very bad a few months back and i couldnt even walk as my ankles swole up and i gained neqarly 5 stone. in the end they put me on a hugh dose steriod drip to stop the water retention but did not work and has damnmaged my kidneys now i am on water talblets for rest of my life
If it keeps getting worse you should ask them about the water pill or You can try best home cures for treating water retention… this helps you to get rid of it
