Not sure if it's the heat....

Hi, I've had lupus for 12 years now and have never reacted to the sun/heat before, ironically I'm better with the sun/heat now (especially after having my 3 girls) than I was when I was younger. But for the past couple of days I've had a really nauseous stomach. I was wondering if anyone else suffered from this or if I have just over done things the past couple of weekends. On the positive side apart from lack of sleep am actually feeling pretty good and am loving the weather!!!!

Hi wendymd,

Its difficult with lupus to know what is causing what. It could be a bug, could be tiredness or how about something that you have eaten that didn't agree. Maybe it was too much sun and heat. Who knows?

Anyhow I hope that it soon passes.

Take care

Hi.... besides being photo sensitive the heat itself seems to affect me. with the sudden rush of heatwave I am suffering! I have stayed out of the sun, using 50+ suncream, then my hollywood starlet disguise - you know the one .... sunglasses, floppyhat, lurking in the shade when I do need to venture out n it ... but I find I 'overheat' despite plenty of water. My body can't cool itself properly. Seems to have resulted in heat exhaustion complete with nausea and other delights. Am taking some electrolyte powders to try to balance myself out - and resuming the role of possible vampire ;) .... xx

Thank you Jude65, I had sort of come to the same conclusions myself really, but as we all know you can never quite predict what delights are in store!!!! Am going to try gaviscon to see if that helps.

Fruitloop, bless you. My kids can't quite believe how I manage to go a lovely colour in the summer despite wearing factor 50!!!! Where do you get the electrolyte powders from and do you need to run it past the docs before taking them? I'm willing to try anything as I have come to the conclusion that lack of sleep is not helping although is probably not the cause, but as I can't have sleeping pills due to other complications I'm open to suggestions.

Personally I would go for the Hollywood starlet look, you will probably get less looks than if you resume the vampire role......lol!! xx

The colour I go when wearing factor 50 is dark from the dirt that sticks to it! Heat exhaustion has caused the nausea etc so I have lost alot of fluids. I am using Dioralyte which my GP had recommended years ago. I also use sports drinks as they keep you hydrated.

As for sleep, it is harder in the heat so I am doing a little rain dance this morning ;) ..... I use meditation techniques to relax and go off to la la land - quite like it there ANYTHING is possible!

I think everyone has been a little caught out by the sudden heat rush!
