My Dr. says I have Lupus after my bloods came back saying so and that I don't have Rheumatoid,

But I went to my Rheumatoid Dr and he say's I don't have lupus but I do have Rheumatoid I have the tiredness, the aches and pains, the numbness the brain fog and I could easily spend a whole day in bed. I work as a child carer so by the end of the week Im so tired. The thing is If I have Lupus shouldn't I come down with every germ going round the Nursery like Sickness and Diarrhoea.

I dont think so i also work where i could pick up anything but i dont think it works like that,

hi debbie iwas first diagnosed with rheumatoid nearly 28 years ago and when i was 27 i had the same trouble, 1 said i had rheumatoid and the other1 said i had lupus they evenually sorted it out i had both, but shouldnt make alot of different to where you work. i worked in many hospital and nursing home and never pick up any thing. apart from severe tiredness and pain as the years when on.

Thank you both very much I just thought that because it was on you immune system that I was susceptible to every germ going round.

Hi Debbee,

Lupus causes an overactive immune system which makes it attack your own body causing inflammation. It is unlikely to increase your susceptibility to infection. However, some of the treatments used in lupus suppress your immune system and this can increase your chance of picking up infections.
